The distal cut is superior for this purpose.
This is the first time I've tried it, and it does work. Just keep in mind that once the wire bit is cut, it will shoot out in any direction.
No, it only cuts wire for ligature purposes. 010'' . 012''. And then there's the issue of scale. Are you interested in learning more about the tip? The tip isn't particularly small; I have better ones for cutting wire for ligatures, but this one also cuts this type of wire. br>br>I hope I've been of assistance!

If you have a family member who wears braces, this will save you a lot of time and aggravation. Wires move in tandem with teeth. This has been a joy to own with four children in braces. Excellence at its most basic level!.
I needed to cut a small piece of metal wire. It was no problem at all for this to cut through. I keep it in my drawer because I rarely need to cut small wires. br>When I bought another item with thicker plastic fasteners in the packaging, I decided to cut them off with these. They got the job done, but the very tip snapped off. Two tungsten carbide blades make up the tip. One of them had a small crack in it when it arrived, which I had noticed. Cutting the plastic, I believe, was the final source of stress that resulted in the tip of one of the blades breaking off. It's still usable in its current state; however, precision cutting is no longer possible. br>If you only need these for a one-time job, they'll suffice; however, they won't hold up to long-term use. However, I wasn't using it for its intended purpose, so I suppose it's partly my fault; however, if it cracks after cutting two pieces of small plastic, it wasn't built to be perfectly sturdy to begin with.
When I got home from my orthodontics appointment, I noticed that the girl hadn't cut my wire, which bothered me. I came across these and decided to purchase them. It worked like a charm for me. It saved me the trouble of having to return to have my wire trimmed because the girl didn't do her job properly.
The cutting edge, on the other hand, is not very good. It can cut wire, but it is of poor quality. The closed jaws allow light to pass through, and the cutting edges do not have a good chamfer or point. br>br>Other carbide edge cutters that are FAR superior are available.
So far, everything has been great. We've already used them to trim the long wires on my wife's braces a few times. They perform admirably.
My daughter's poking wires on her braces were easily cut with this product. Because her wires are thicker, cutting them was difficult, and I had to use a lot of force to cut them. I have one complaint: the wire cutter does not hold on to the clipped wire once it has been cut, making it difficult to ensure she does not swallow the cut wire; however, it does the job and saved us a trip to the orthodontist, so I would use it again.
Only thin wires can be cut with this product's strength. At the conclusion of my orthodontic treatment, I was unable to cut the thick wires.
The stranded wire retainer did not work as a permanent retainer.
