most noticeable aspect of the new buckle is that it has an aluminum core, which is wider than a Cat or Chinese copy. This might be too heavy to fit in some holsters or pouches. There is a noticeable difference between the shape and size of the teeth as well as the pen that's built into the windlass that make it seem to be a better value than the overpriced competitors.

I completed a training course in "tactical combat casualty care," using a highly effective Tourniquet of generation 3. The instructor said it looked just as good as his NAR tourniquet and worked just as well as it. It was great having an aluminum windlass that I could apply myself, and a thumb hole made it even easier to do. Whenever I need these services, I have no problem relying on them.
If you do buy one of these, I strongly suggest you receive training to go along with it. My tightened wouldn't have been nearly enough if I hadn't been able to see and feel just how tight it.

There are a number of tourniquets that I have used, but this is one that I have trusted to save the lives of people I have helped. Metal windless is used in place of the plastic material that is prone to breaking and is of high quality. After repeated uses of a tourniquet from Recon Medical, I have never had one fail. The TCCC does not recommend this tourniquet specifically however, it should be on the list and at the top of the list of recommended tourniquets.
This is considered to be one of, if not the best tourniquet on the market. We have an older generation of this tourniquet which has not been used so far, but we are confident that it will serve us well in the event of a need to use it. While more expensive than similar devices on the market, when it comes to a life-saving device, it isn't worth saving a few dollars if it doesn't work when you need it.
