The chart is well-printed and made of a sturdy material. It arrives in a small cardboard box, tightly rolled up. That appears to be the source of my problem with the product, which is that I can't get it flat enough to hang on a door or a wall. All of the corners will need to be taped or secured. I tried rolling it in the opposite direction for a few days, laying it under heavy books, and using a blow dryer to warm it up a little. The blow dryer is not something I would recommend. It's far too hot outside. It serves as a temporary eye chart, which is exactly what I needed.
The standard Snellen Chart requires viewing from a distance of 20 feet, which is extremely difficult to achieve in most rooms. A typical bedroom is 12 feet by 12 feet, which is insufficient for the 20-foot distance. Because this chart is designed for a 10-foot distance, it can be used in almost any room. The product itself is made of a thin, hard plastic that is extremely durable. It comes rolled up and "refuses" to straighten almost no matter what you do, as other reviewers have stated. It is adamant about being rolled up into a tube shape, which is annoyance enough. As a result, you'll need to tack up the corners to make sure it's completely flat. BUT, if you do that, everything will be fine (as shown in the attached photo). I believe it is worth the money because you are getting an accurate 10ft chart that is durable and once tacked up, you have a functional chart; however, if you absolutely must have a chart that is not flat, you will have to look elsewhere. However, if you read some of the reviews for these more expensive "flat" versions, you'll notice that they frequently get ruined and wrinkled in transit (sometimes to the point of being unusable). So, if you're willing to tack this on, this is probably the best and most cost-effective option of all the 10 foot options (which are limited because most charts are designed for a 20 foot distance).
The plastic chart arrived rolled up in a nice cardboard box. It kept curling up as a result of the rolling, but this is easily fixed by rolling it tightly in the opposite direction and leaving it that way for a day or so. Because there is a reinforced hole at the center top and the plastic is stiff, all I needed was a push pin to secure it. I'm also taping the bottom to get rid of the residual curl (which can probably be removed with a little more patience). The chart is exactly what it says it is, and the color bars are bright red and green, just like traffic lights. I've discovered that if it's well lit, I have a better chance of reading it — but this is true of all eye charts! (after several months of use, the review has been updated).
True, but I've rolled it up the other way in the hopes that it will straighten out enough to hang straight on a wall given enough time. It still requires more time after a few months, but I am optimistic.
This is an excellent tool for assisting someone in understanding dyslexia vs. vision clarity issues, and it is exactly what I was looking for. br>This poster is made of thick, washable plastic and has a metal eyelet for hanging. br>Came in a plastic sleeve with a handy cardboard box to store it in. br>It took a few minutes to roll it backwards to flatten it, but it wasn't difficult. br>Would recommend or buy again. br>Excellent tool for assisting dyslexic and vision-clarity-challenged teenagers.
It's great, but after weeks of rolling it inside out and flattening it under massive/heavy books, it still won't lay flat. I mounted it on the wall with double-sided foam tape. It's been two days, but I'm starting to notice the edges curling. Aside from that, it's of really good quality.
It's a good chart, but it's rolled and difficult to straighten, as everyone has said. I warped it a little with a hair dryer. After that, I duplicated what I needed. Taping it up or pining it would be the best way to achieve my goal.
It will arrive rolled up and will need to be trained to lay flat before mounting. Printing and materials of the highest quality. It's where I put my personal vision therapy to the test. I can see my progress even when I'm only 10 feet away from the chart because the smaller printed rows start to clear as a result of doing eye exercises and practicing with the chart.
