There is a good amount of space in the bag, and it will hold lots of things. Despite its heavy weight, it still manages to work fine. I usually just hook it on the handle of the wheel chair. If she needs her oxygen concentrator in there, we can certainly fit it in that. That's a great carrying strap, I really like it. With its convenient handle, you can easily carry it in and out of the house and car! In spite of this, it holds quite It is important to note, however, that there was a limitation on the amount of weight you could carry. My purse fell out of the bag after about 20 minutes of storing it in the bag, so one of the Velcro straps needed to be replaced. I find the bag to be quite useful. We either purchase items at the matches or we bring our own stuff. In my wheelchair, I have been able to feel useful for a while, I've been used as a packmule. My wife doesn't have to deal with everything we take, buy or transport. So I purchased this bag and loaded it with almost everything you can think of from food to drinks to drinks to clothing to medical supplies to trophies. It works great, has a shoulder strap and has been excellent. It is easy for my wife to handle once she removes it once she pulls it off, so I would have purchased it too if there was a larger size. The company I purchased these bags from has a keen eye for detail, I have reviewed other items from them. As far as I can tell, this product is well built with care and pride, I took a look at it from top to bottom, inside and out, and didn't find a single defect. If you want easy / urgent access, I'm not sure whether the Velcro will hold the weight of the item you stow. In regards to the water proofing issue, I think the issue of resistance to water would also be a concern. If you need it to be water resistant, I would spray it down with a waterproofing spray available in many shoe and sporting goods stores. It appears as though the bat's capacity is adequate, however, with pockets on the outside, placing items there seems to invite petty theft from those unscrupulous thieves who take advantage of the handicapped.
