Questions & Answers

Are you required to purchase two sets of wheels for the front?

A set of these wheels includes two wheels.

When they are locked and unlocked, how do they work? If someone with dementia locks him or her, would it be easy to lock them and then not be able to unlock him or her?

The lock is located on the front tip of the wheels and is a push tab that goes down to lock and up to unlock so that the wheel can be turned freely in any direction. It only locks to allow the wheels to be turned in a particular direction. My walking is easy and quiet with these wheels, I love that they don't resist and I don't have to deal with resistance. Add skies pads to the back wheel to make it more difficult for people with dementia to turn it. In the back, my walker has standard 5" regular wheels as well as the swivel wheels up front. That may be of some help to you. Google Drive Medical also has a picture of the locking tab if you want to see it in greater detail.

She just didn't think that it worked for her
3/5

Walking with a rollator with swivel wheels is the only thing my mother does. To walk inside the house, she uses a standard walker with wheels that are not swivelable. In light of how well she likes the swivel wheels on the rollator, I thought she might also enjoy swivel wheels on Nevertheless, they were not in the same mindset as they were. This is *br1. Despite her complaints that the wheels were loose, my mother still thought that the car was She didn't feel comfortable with them like she did with Due to her petite stature and the locked wheels on her current walker, she is already set to the lowest height. This caused the walker to get too high at its lowest setting despite these swivel wheels. There should be a way to make them exactly replace the lowest setting on the locked wheels of They will be returned to me on Monday. It is my hope that I will not encounter any difficulties. Apart from that, they seem to have good quality and a good product.

A bushing versus a bearing! You will want to look at your swivel mechanism when they arrive! In summary, I would have given these wheels five stars, but I only gave them four so here's my reason
4/5

In my work in the rehabilitation industry, these wheels are used specifically to train stroke and gait recovery patients. The wheels I ordered here are very nice, and I am very pleased with their There is no way to change their height. I agree with the comment about their height, but that's their nature. In spite of the fact that they were similar in their model number, when the walker vendor ordered a pair for a patient, the wheels that came were different. Compared to the other boxes, the set of wheels had the same order number, and the vendor stated that there were only one set of wheels in their inventory. My best guess of what happened is as follows. In fact, the set I ordered here has bearings built into the plastic, and they turn very well with weight applied. As far as the second set I bought from the vendor was concerned, it was plastic and only had the bushing inside for the shaft. It was horrible to use them under load, when they stuck, they also didn't rotate freely. When I called the vendor, I was met with the care not attitude prevalent in healthcare today, as we are just burned out with rule followers and no judgement, "that is the only kind we stock. ". I explained several times to the customers that Drive had changed their design in response to complaints. In my message to them, I suggested they send back their old stock and get new stock of that order number, but they did not respond. After I sent them back, I'm getting them from here and keeping them on hand as a safety measure for It is agghhh. When they are chosen carefully and when they are using a swivel bearing mechanism, as opposed to a bushing swivel mechanism, this is an outstanding product. As soon as they spoke with vendor rep in person, the confusion was cleared up and the "aha" moment came. As soon as the upgraded equipment is available, drive will be contacted.

The product I received from this company was defective
3/5

I fitted them on my walker and was able to use them. Upon pulling myself back up from the floor and transferring into my wheelchair, I discovered there was a crack in the plastic at the joint where the walker leg connected to the wheel. In reviews before buying I read that the legs are too tall for the walker and they need to be cut, so I ordered a tubing cutter anticipating I would use it, but I found that one leg is already shorter than the other, as well as the wheels are already worn out. Weight should not have been an issue with this defective product since my walker is a 300-pound walker and I am a little under 250 pounds.

Although purchased these knowing they would elevate my walker, I believe Drive Med could have designed them with such an aspect that the walker would not be elevated
5/5

Perhaps a shorter leg on the wheels would have been a better alternative. The fact that my walker is raised higher than it ought to be makes it awkward for me to use it. For an elderly person whose mobility is severely limited, I would not recommend these wheels since they could easily "run away" with the walker.

Putting your life at risk, and it's a waste of money
4/5

These dangers cannot be overlooked even though all the positive reviews for this product appear to have come from somewhere else. It is very difficult to maintain control of the walker when the wheels swivel as soon as you try to walk straight. I'm 6'3", 240 pounds, and I had to fight constantly to maintain control of the walker. Those wheels do lock into a fixed position, but if that is how you plan to utilise them, you will be better off staying with the fixed wheels that come with Drive Walker in the first place, no need to waste money on these. Considering that I am not the only one who has faced this problem, I am wondering if someone else has experienced it as well - What is the source of all the positive reviews?.

On the dementia unit, a replacement for the Rollator was required
3/5

The residents in a dementia unit I am working with were no longer able to safely use their rollators, and I was searching for a solution for them. These replacement caster wheels follow the same path as the rollator wheels for added safety. We have already replaced two walkers and will request the budget for all rollators on the property to be replaced. This type of wheel should be standard equipment, I'm not sure why I haven't seen it more.
