I ordered a size 8, but the box says it's a size 4. When I opened it, however, there were two large and two small compartments on each side.
This machine is fantastic; it gives the impression of receiving a massage. The balls have the same feel as a thumb when it comes to untying knots. Because one of the balls is a little smaller than the other, you get a soft touch as they rotate, then the larger ball comes around and goes a little deeper. This is a product that I strongly suggest.
Erica, that's exactly what it was designed for, and that's exactly why I bought it. It's PERFECT for back pain in the lower back. I've had lower back pain for over a year, and I swear it's gotten better since I bought this. It's a deep tissue massager, which is ideal for getting into those thorny lower back muscles and areas. I used to only use it in bed, but thanks to the adjustable strap, I now bring it to work with me and attach it to my chair, as I spend the majority of my day sitting. I can assure you that it is well worth the money. The reversing motion is by far my favorite part. It keeps it from becoming irritated during long sessions and works those muscles in a variety of ways. Best of luck! I hope it's as successful for you as it has been for me!

betweens. In general, negative reviews inform me as to why I should not purchase a product; however, in this case, the negative review informs me that this massager is exactly what I need. I got it today, gave it a try, and it worked perfectly. Those who complained that massages hurt them have no idea what massages are supposed to do or what is going on in their bodies. Massages are meant to be painful. Muscles become knotted (lactic acid buildup) as a result of poor posture or overuse, causing pain and discomfort. Massage breaks up the knots, releasing the tension. To disperse these pockets of high lactic acid concentration, the massager must really push and knead. Rubbing on the surface may be relaxing, but it does nothing to alleviate the pain in the affected areas. Depending on the severity of the knots, a few to many sessions of deep shiatsu massage may be required to relieve the pain in the problem area. br>br>Some people claim that the pain gets worse the next day. That just means it's up and running. Lactic acid has now been dispersed over a larger area, making it easier for the body to absorb and eliminate. The pain in the larger area usually goes away in a few days to a week. br>br>I'm hoping that this will be of assistance to those who have read negative reviews.
My neck and upper back have been stiff and sore for quite some time. This has literally saved my life! The massager is lightweight and portable, with both an ac and a 12v plug for use in the car. While I would not recommend using this while driving, it is convenient to use as a passenger on long journeys. I can put the strap in the car seat right away because it's on the back. The massagers are strong, and they don't seem to get stuck or click when I lean back on them. br>Another nice feature is that the cover can be removed, allowing me to easily wash it if something gets on it. If I choose to use it there, it also works well for my lower back.
I bought it for myself about six weeks ago. It feels good on my shoulders, back, and ankles/feet, even though it doesn't quite reach the spot where I needed it (below the neck, to the inside of my shoulder). That is why I gave it one star rather than four. The massager will not stay on for more than a few minutes at a time, the heated massage balls on one side of the massager have begun occasionally flickering, and much to my dismay, I can't get it to stay on at all this evening, despite the fact that the cord is fully plugged into place and "clicked. " It appears that the problem is with the cord. Unfortunately, the "return window" for this item appears to have closed. It's hard for me to believe I'm only 40 years old. However, it appears that this is the case. Perhaps someone from Gideon will get in touch with me and send me a new cord or unit. Until then, a very sad and costly one-star rating.
Gideon was also the name of my previous shiatsu therapist. People warned me not to press too hard on my old Gideon because it would cause back pain. I pushed so hard that the motors stalled, and the next day my back was gone. My old one's material in front of the balls eventually wore out (the motors, however, continue to function). On my old Gideon, the motors of another brand of shiatsu messager stalled at what would be medium pressure. That was disappointing because I couldn't put enough pressure on my back to truly loosen it up. I haven't been able to stall the motors on this new Gideon yet, though I've come close. Because the balls are smaller than those on my old Gideon messager, the pressure is more intense. It took a while for me to adjust to the smaller (and more pointy) balls, but I eventually did. The powerful motors send a positive message to my back, loosening it up. In comparison to my old one, which only had two balls, this one has four balls of various sizes. The variety of sizes is appealing, and it provides a variety of pressure along the way. It rotates in different directions on its own, which is fine, but I wish I could control when it does so. Unfortunately, this self-directioning feature appears to be present on all newer Shiatsu messagers from a variety of brands. When I get it working in the right area in the right way, it frequently changes direction, forcing me to retrace my steps. That is my only criticism. Other than that, a fantastic messager.
1 - The 'pillow' isn't actually a pillow at all. Throughout, it is a rigid, inflexible, and extremely difficult item.
2 - The pillow is on the small side. That image of the woman relaxing with the pillow occupying the entire back of the chair is very misleading.
3 - The massage balls are extremely difficult to work with, and there is no room for error. Moving your head away from the pillow, according to the advertisement, will adjust the strength. When you're lying down, how are you going to do that? Will you rest your head slightly above the pillow in a completely non-threatening position? Pose that is relaxing. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I couldn't use it while lying down with the case closed. In a sitting position, I gave it a shot. I've had it for a few weeks and am extremely dissatisfied. I used it on my lower back, and it did nothing but surround my spine, reaching no muscles. The final straw came the day before yesterday. I repeated the procedure on my right arm and neck. I couldn't even do the full 15 minutes on my neck because it hurt too much. I awoke today with PAIN and soreness in both my neck and arm as a result of the "massage. " I'm going to try to return it; I gave it a shot, and I'm not one to write a negative review unless I truly believe it, and I truly believe it in this case. AVOID!.
