Questions & Answers

A toilet with an elongated body?

A toilet elongated for my use has this product installed. I enjoy it, but when I sit or stand I have to make sure my feet remain on the bowl and do not push them to the side.

Is this model capable of bearing a lot of weight? The lab needs to be for 300 students. Does this one make it for this weight? I know Driver Medical makes them, but is it the one I need?

It should be okay for a 300-pound person using this model. While standing up or sitting down, the arms would be the only part of the body taking weight.

What about the toilet? Do they have to be connected?

I am excited to be working with Drive Medical, thank you! It is necessary to attach this toilet safety rail

Does this have the capability of being used with toilet seat risers?

Located on top of the toilet bowl and attached to the toilet with seat mounting hardware, this device rests on top of the bowl. The way the riser attaches to the toilet has not been explained to me, but if it also contains the mounting hardware for the seat, I suspect interference.

Selected User Reviews For Drive Medical Toilet Safety Rail

It is useless
3/5

It was for my parent, who had been out of rehab for 9 days before falling 3 times, and then had to stay in rehab for a few months more. Upon her return home, this rail was installed on her toilet, but the front two bars kept twisting forward and providing no support. No matter what was done to stabilize them, they kept twisting forward and falling off the edge. There is no point in returning it now. You can save $35 if you save it. A different contraption may be more effective.

Toilet handrail that does not obstruct the view
5/5

Observe how the assembly is done. As a result of osteoporosis, my Mom is nearly immobile. Since she was mobile, we had a rail that separate from the toilet when she was still mobile. In order for her to stand and move, she now requires a Stand Assist machine. It was impossible to use the toilet due to the old rail. She felt her foot was going to fall off the toilet now that it was gone. In the past, she has fallen from her wheelchair several times and is terrified of falling again. She is no longer afraid of falling because I can maneuver her onto the toilet, unbelt her, and get her off the machine with this unit. One caveat to keep in mind Her toilet paper is cleaned after her use of the toilet. You should pull the rail out and rotate it to the floor if you have to wipe yourself. To do this, press the brass stop on the side you wish to wipe and then pull the brass stop. It's not that big of a Replacing it back in its place and locking it in is as simple as that. I also think it's a lot stronger than I thought it would It is rated at 300 pounds by the manufacturer It's easier for me to put a lot of pressure on the rails since I'm 250 pounds. I was planning to install rails on the wall that have the tendency to swing upward. A minimum of 140 dollars for 2 would have been the cost. My first impression of $33 was that it was expensive. I think it's a good deal. In addition, I would like to mention First I attached the back of the toilet, then I assembled the handles on top. Although it would be difficult to figure out how to put it all together in my house, I guess you could hold the arms out of the way while attaching, but it went together just fine when I did it that way.

There was an error in the naming of parts
4/5

There are no negatives to this product, but the assembly was a little confusing due to wrongly numbered parts. Even though I followed the instructions to assemble it, I realized there was something wrong when I compared my assembled product with the picture. Two of the numbered parts were supposed to fit together, and two of the numbered parts were supposed to fit together, per the instructions. Although I did that, the assembled object looked drastically different from the picture and was deemed unsafe. Since then, I have interchanged the parts, and it has worked perfectly. Make sure you read the instructions carefully!.

Don't be afraid to read and find out
3/5

The toilet seat should not be used on For our elongated toilet, this is a very hazardous situation. It is a daily occurrence that the bar slides out from under the seat. As I didn't read the reviews before purchasing and installing for my spouse who was returning from rehab after a fall, I did not know what to expect. He will be exposed to yet another unsafe condition in this way. In the interest of safety, I took it off. In addition to the lack of directions, the picture on the box was of no use. Deductive reasoning was the focus of the lesson.

It is not acceptable for anyone to purchase poor quality products
3/5

The ceramic tile I put on the toilet in my house was for my father who has an inability to walk. I really hoped this would help him. We were unable to use it on our toilet because it wasn't wide enough. However, it was also a complete waste of time. Sitting down on it was a bit of a challenge the chair jiggled and wasn't There are no high handlebars, they are not adjustable, and the bars are not very sturdy. Week is used for making this product. This was certainly not my cup of tea. The time and money I invested to try to make this work for us were a waste.

It has so far been a nice product
5/5

This was for my mom who had just undergone total knee replacement surgery. It is sturdy enough for her, since she is short and about 200 pounds. Because it has no legs or feet, she can easily use her walker in our tiny bathroom since she does not have to extend it. Wrapping the tips in carpet grip tape helped prevent slipping. In my experience, stability is not an issue until the widest setting is selected. As long as the width of the handles is set to the narrowest setting, there is a minimum amount of Installs easily and can be put together quickly. With FSA, I was able to purchase. They were very prompt in arriving.

Bringing a lawsuit
3/5

A lawsuit is just a matter of time! The only choice is either to have a really big toilet or to be as thin as a stick! While the assembly was easy, the front part of the frame doesn't go all the way under the seat. The little bit of seat under which they were sitting falls from the little piece of table when you stand up. In order to test this out, I sat on It's not that I'm huge or that I'm thin I'm neither. It won't even allow you to move in order to wipe the toilet when it's on the smaller setting! Turn it to the larger setting, and your back legs can't even reach it! The reason I have this is because I am due to have a revision surgery on my spine in order to have a spinal cord stimulator and I want to take extra precautions so that I do not To test it properly, I will give it a few days after surgery, but trust me, I will have my cane with me just in case it slips out of my hand. It is safe to say that if this happens when I'm using it to stand, the electrode leads will break off their anchors and migrate down my spinal cord. In terms of assembly, I gave it 2 stars mainly due to its simplicity. You'll know it didn't work if y'all see someone on the news suing the company in the next year.

Assembling this product is very easy

The brand Drive is one of those that immediately comes to mind, especially for handicapped people or simply people who are physically limited. As much as I would like, I wish there was more room on the dominant body side so that I could "maneuver" The person I purchased this for to help her rise up is a plus size woman who was initially pleased with the stated purpose, but then was embarrassed by the end issue only discovered during cleaning, resulting in an emotional reaction of humiliation when she had to obtain assistance from family. Thus, the purpose of enabling independence and ability of the end user was It is because of this reason that we have only given three.
