I'd like to know if this replacement part can be installed by a regular Joe with some mechanical knowledge, as well as if there are any installation instructions. ?

Anyone who knows how to turn a wrench is capable. It's pretty straightforward; there's a jam nut at the top that can be removed, and a clevis pin holds the bottom in place. Remove the nut and pull the pin, which isn't quite as easy as it sounds. Because models differ, double-check that this part will fit your table by comparing the model and serial numbers listed on the part's description to the ones listed on the part's description. I can email you a diagram from the midmark manual that shows how to change the cylinder if you call me at 940 257 2777.
