There is no cotton in the gauze; it is a non-woven material. It's ideal for wounds because it's lint-free.
The 4"x4" sized pads, in my experience, are better for exfoliating because they allow you to scrub with your entire hand. For that purpose, I prefer those to anything else (and they're also cheaper!). This size is ideal for toning, removing makeup, and applying oils and serums.
For tattoo artists, I think I'd get something that says sterile. They are what I use for my nails. There is no blood.

Cotton balls are a waste of product, and I don't want any of my beloved Lotion P50 to go to waste! These are small, but I use two of them, one in each hand, and each holds enough toner to cover my face and neck, plus a little extra for my chest and back of hands. For this type of thing, I would recommend it, and the bulk price is reasonable!.

If the pad is too thick for your tastes, you can cut it in half to make a thinner (but still sturdy) pad. br>The package contains 1000 cotton pads, but I cut them in half to make them thinner because I prefer them thinner.

I expected them to be more absorbent, but they aren't. They have a polyester feel to them as opposed to cotton. Still, I'm going to buy it because the quantity of pads you get for the price is incredible.
