It has to be a Buffalo Model 7R. This knife was my first, 40 years ago, in Dental School. It had a rosewood handle, and I still have it; however, I recently ordered one that was NOT Buffalo brand, and it was a piece of junk. I then ordered a BUFFALO brand one and was pleased to see that it still had good craftsmanship and a rosewood handle. To get the old world quality, you must order Buffalo Brand! The model's name is 7R.
This is a well-made, easy-to-clean knife that I use to trim paraffin blocks in histology. It's also comfortable to hold and use.
Sharp and durable.
Well-constructed. Strong.
Part of a dental school interview involving carving. The knife was in excellent condition when it was delivered. It was simple to hone the blade.
So far, everything has worked out well.
