I bought one of these to convert the x-axis on my printer. It was relatively smooth right out of the box on the axis. It was incredibly smooth after I disassembled it, cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol, and reassembled it with krytox. I then decided to purchase another to replace a printer, but the quality was noticeably worse. The second one was unable to move without the use of force. There was a great deal of binding and grinding to be done. I was going to clean it, but I noticed a 1mm deflection in the middle of the rail when I checked it. This is most likely why the binding was put in place. A single millimeter in the middle of a 350mm rail is extremely inconvenient. The second one will be returned by me.
This appears to be an outlier. It came in a sealed package with a light oil and a ziplock bag containing a few extra bearings (which appear to be slightly larger than standard chinese mgn9 bearings, which I take as a sign of quality, but be aware). They're fairly smooth and will slide down the rail on their own (unlike some other low-cost rails). Overall, these are the linear guides to get if you're looking for something that's both functional and affordable.
Before realizing that the kit required MGN9C carriages, I had prepared some MGN9H carriages for a 3D printer upgrade. I ordered these, removed the H carriages, and installed the C carriages, but they do not slide as smoothly as the previous carriage.
Other 350mm MGN rails sold by other sellers have 18 holes, but this one only had 17 holes. I had to come back because my current design required 18 holes.
It was put to good use in upgrading my laser cutter. br>The rail is well-fitting and glides easily. It was already oiled when it arrived.
The rail is of good quality. br>br>To make them nice and smooth, they'll need to be degreased and repackaged. There are videos on YouTube that show you how to do it.
On my 3D printer, I used it to replace the x axis. It worked flawlessly, was extremely smooth, and was a great value for money.
