As you are well aware, cables are attached and need to be inserted into the existing holes Connect the new cable to the cut end with waterproof connectors, tape it and you're done. I cut the existing cable about two feet above the water line. A length of more than enough was sufficient. I couldn't be happier.

Lenco trim tabs are easy to replace or install. The last several years are unfortunately not very long. The original model was less than two years old and was being replaced.
