After running it upwards of 7200 RPM for less than a minute, I realized that it was quite noisy. There is no vibration at all The only thing I need to do is test my setup on my Smithy Super Shop The mounting I have is powered by a quill and it appears to be a Shopsmith wannabe. It is mounted to a 5/8" R-bolt An 8 collet holds the gearbox input shaft (horizontal) and the upper flange of the vertical shaft, which is stabilized by the drill press cutout in the table of the saw. While sanding wooden parts, I have used it steadily for 30 minutes to an hour with a horizontally oriented 12" sanding disk positioned on the vertical shaft @ 600 RPM per sector with light to quite firm horizontal handheld pressure downward. It's fine for the purposes I have in mind. The thing I love is this one! By using a vertically mounted sanding disk I will no longer have to try to sand these parts.

An excellent, compact 90 degree power transmission gearbox

This unit cost me around six months ago and was installed on a light duty machine where 90 degrees of power angle was required. To drill and align the 3 mounting holes in the steel mounting plate, I welded a 14" length of the plate As couplers, a couple of small universal joints were used, and the machine is now running for about ten hours daily. I am very satisfied with the unit.
