They won't rust while in a paint bottle because there's no oxygen for them to oxidize (rust). No mixing balls have ever rusted in my kitchen.

Ensure that the ball bearings are in working order. I received a batch of food that had definitely not been rustproof. They tarnished and rusted after being left overnight in a salt water bath. Based on other reviews, it appears to be hit or miss. Please make sure you check them so you don't ruin your paint, or get something locally so you don't waste your money.
Because of the variety of these bearing balls, some of which are just chromed steel that rusts, I also tested them in a cup of salty water and allowed them to sit for two They have been rinsed and dried and are now safe to be placed inside a paint pot or dropper bottle as required.
Make sure you do not use brass bebes. Put these to good use! The babies were the first I tried, but due to rusting issues I had to change to these mixing balls. Please respond quickly! They mix paint very well in 17mm jars, are large, and do a very good job. The item comes in other sizes too, I am sure.
I chose them after carefully reading through the posts here on metal ball bearings for paint. I tested mine in salt water for two days and found that it did not rust at all. I had read some reviews that said it didn't rust, but I still found no rust. The agitators will do great with these! It is definitely a good idea since they won't rust and will not damage your paint.
Every time I fill a pot, I always put one in. As of now, Def will always rely on these.
This product is not right for my needs, but it is not a fault of the product. When I asked them to help me mix paint, they transferred it to droppers, but they were too big to fit into I would have been able to use them perfectly if I had kept the paint in little pots.
As for the paint agitator, I used to use BBs, but decided steel models might be more effective. This solvent might be less reactive than copper and whatever else you might be using.
I have purchased them twice now and tested them in salt water for 48 hours. They didn't rust. I use them when painting miniatures with acrylic paints.
