It can be dangerous to hold it too close to the surface, for it can cause the entire thing to heat up. The longer you hold it, the louder it will sound.

Always ensure that your oxy/acetylene pressures are within the right range, otherwise, as with any rosebud tip, you will get a backflash fire. This simple rule I forgot, and after looking up for more than a minute my entire torch handle got too hot to hold. The rose bud tip will not produce the whistle sound, it will just get hot unlike the normal size rose bud tip. When using this tip, please also put safety first and install flashback arrestors on the side of the bottles of the hoses, especially when hoses are in use. The tip still functions and is fully functional after my little mishap, but it did discolor it a bit. Additionally, the handles and seals appear to be in perfect working condition as well. Keeping the pressure up is all I want everyone to know. As a newcomer to the micro torch arena, I thought it meant I could apply less pressure to the torch head. It's not true- There is less volume but not less pressure - That could have easily led to an ugly mistake but came out as a good learning experience.

I do not know how long it will last since I just got it, but it seems to give a nice broad flame.
