What are the threaded portion's and pitch's sizes and pitches? I'd like to make an oxygen tank out of it. ?

This is a CGA-certified product. Nitrogen and inert gases require a 580 thread. The oxygen thread is CGA-certified. 540 We do not recommend that you use this regulator for anything other than filling balloons.

Is the flow of gas regulated by the tank valve or does the nozzle open and close when you bend it?

By bending the rubber tilt valve, you can control the flow.

Is there anything else you'll need to connect this to a standard helium tank, or can you use it on its own?

Yes, I simply fill balloons with this. I've got a big helium tank that I can refill.

Okay, time to fill the balloons

From a helium tank, I used this to fill balloons. It worked, but I had to open the bottle valve slowly after holding the rubber nozzle open. When I open the bottle valve even slightly and then open the rubber nozzle, the balloon bursts. The balloon can't handle too much concentrated pressure.
