The frost has not yet frozen, and I am filling up 4 36" tires at a pressure of 8 psi up to 35 psi
Selected User Reviews For High Flow 150 PSI Fixed Flow Carbon Dioxide Piston Regulator for Tire Inflation
For my 33" tires, I typically run them at about 38 pounds per square inch on the street and at about 20 pounds per square inch off-road. It is not necessary to go much lower as I don't do major rock climbing or anything like that. It takes about 12 minutes for the tires to be inflated back up to 38psi with this valve The duration of each is 15 seconds. As soon as I finish the second tire, there tends to be frost on it, and by the time I finish the fourth tire, it's really cold and frosty. I have filled up my tires about four times (16 tires in total) without facing any issues. I thought the valve was well made and did the job well.
Although I appreciated the overall concept of the "Real" Power Tanks and some of the individual components I have seen on them, I wanted a simpler approach to this interesting concept. On the first hand, I wanted C02 bottles that could be easily exchanged at a Norco store, similar to how you swap out a propane tank for your BBQ. In the case of a Power Tank brand C02 bottle, I would have had to drop off the bottle on one day for it to be filled at a remote location, then retrieve it on another day. Thank you, I'll pop back in now & It only takes a few minutes to swap it out. We now turn to the "Regulator" who is the subject of this review. Yes, there are fancier ones, but I don't care about the gauges and the In the end I would break the glass and plastic viewing windows as the dials get more fragile over time. This regulator is set at 150 from the factory, PERFECT! Fill your tire(s) with the bottle valve it is the only valve you need to turn on. As part of the purchase, I also bought a 6' air hose and a tire pressure gauge that is connected to this regulator via the 6' hose. Since analog means I don't have to deal with batteries or dead displays, I don't have to worry about that. To fill my tires, I remove the regulator, connect my air hose with the quick connect, and pull it out. I did it. Keeping it simple, while maintaining high reliability, and being fully functional is key.
We are using this on tires that weigh 20 pounds of CO2. My impression was that it was much more robust than another popular one on Amazon. Even though I still think the regulator is more robust, I found that the coupler was leaking from the box out. Eventually I went to Harbor Freight to buy the coupler and noticed that their couplers are much more robust and have 8 ball bearings instead of 3. As I put it all together, I crossed my fingers that everything will work out. Hoping this review aids the seller not to cheap out on what would otherwise be a good.
Using it after offloading allows me to fill tires. This new setup has not slowed down my filling time as much as my old setup did. The parts are cheaper than other places to buy them, and I am satisfied with it. A 100-dollar regulator with a readout and adjustment will probably not be as good as this. There have been some injuries to this thing as well. Depending on the type of hose connector you require, you may require a different one. I couldn't use it because it wasn't the right size. The 1/4" hose line would not work on my system. I have no idea why. The connector I had was an extra, so I didn't care about it.
The bottle of C02 I bought on Amazon is a 10lb USA-made bottle used for airing up my tires following an off-road trip A road trip. In order to avoid having a bunch of gauges that could fail, I added this regulator. As part of my portable compressor already I have a pressure gauge and hose. I was able to accomplish my goal without any problems. My C02 now costs less than half the price of the "kit", and the quality of the gas is the same. Getting cold with the second tire is a possibility, but it is not unreasonable to expect. This changed my life for those of us who like to do things quickly. Getting 4 35" tires from 20 lbs to 40 lbs took probably 30 seconds per tire or less.
It's been added to my off-site list My road spares kit just in case my regulator with gauges ever needed to be replaced. I tested it out last weekend. Twelve tires were pumped up for the trip back home - With my 10 lb CO2 tank, I was able to return all 4 x 33", 4 x 35", and 4 x 37" with ZERO issues. It got a little stiff on the outside, but it didn't lose speed or volume. You can use this regulator as the primary or backup regulator for your CO2 kit (150 psi only) if you are looking for an affordable and effective alternative to more expensive models.
They have some of the best service I have encountered in a very long time. Very quick to respond and knowledgeable about their product. They are definitely a company I will use again and again. Despite being well made, the product doesn't work as well as it could. Packaging products in such a way that they arrive intact is the best way to guarantee the products' safety. In order to get my Jeep's CO2 air setup, I was able to order everything I needed online. Having a device I could depend on to air up my tires really quickly is important to me because I wheel a lot. The cost to me was half of what big companies charged.
With this, we can inflate tires or run air tools with a portable source of CO2. I use several of these in service with 5-20 lb bottles of CO2. As an alternative to typical diaphragm regulators, they are far more resistant to freezing.
