No, it's not a simple oxy/fuel torch.

Expect this to be far from perfect right out of the box if you're a perfectionist. The mech for speed. The fit and finish were poor, resulting in a gritty feel and stiction at light pressure/slower speeds. The rail on the sled was a little loose. The weak magnets that come with this unit are the worst part about it; they can make setup difficult, if not impossible. br>As is, the EZ cut is appealing and has promise. My mech has already been rebuilt. All bushings were replaced with abec 7 bearings, the sled was tightened, and the magnets were replaced with switchable indicator bases (this is referred to as a runaway escapement). To speed up setup, I believe the unit also requires knob adjustable X and Z axis tip rest bars. br>If FlameTech kept improving the design, it could be a lot better. I don't think it was a big seller for them, and I don't think it was worth their time. br>I like mine, but I'm a perfectionist, and getting there cost me more money and effort than it originally did. br>In my opinion, the Scorpion EZ Cut can't be expected to make consistently perfect cuts quickly and conveniently as is, but it CAN be made to do so if you have the skill.
Awesome.
This is the most inconvenient tool I've ever purchased. This looks like it should be sold at Harbor Freight because it is so cheaply made.
