These retractable barriers were purchased as a safety precaution to keep small children out of the church balcony after services. It was a huge stress reliever! The balcony's edge is at adult knee height, with a drop of 30 feet to the pews below. I pushed for these to be installed because I have young children who are close to the edge. The bright red barrier has halted the kids in their tracks, and they have all stayed away after being explained why. They're almost invisible against the dark woodwork when they're retracted.
Since we installed plexiglass screening to protect front desk staff, we needed to keep guests away from the front desk of our hotel. These are fantastic!.
This wall barrier prevents my 91-year-old mother, who suffers from severe dementia, from wandering out into the living room at night, where it is dark and often colder than her bedroom. I placed it across from the bathroom at the end of a hallway so that she could use it at night without wandering away. I considered getting the wooden type that keeps kids and dogs out of a certain area, but Mom sees the barrier and that's enough for her. She's far too old to go beneath it without collapsing. And it's as if she's been given a sign to return to bed. It's up at night and down in the morning for me. Because it's mounted on each side behind load-bearing walls, you can't even see it coming down the hall from the living room. The hall walls are supported by bearing parts. This is a much easier, faster, and less expensive alternative to the wood accordion.
This product, as well as the receiver, went together quickly and will be extremely useful in directing visitors to special events at our church fellowship hall. Additional receivers were strategically placed at key locations to provide three-dimensional coverage. A common hallway enters the kitchen area in a one-way operation.
It appears to be of reasonable quality. The provided hardware made mounting it on the wall a breeze. The only drawback is the plastic pull-out end. I'm not sure how long it'll last if it's constantly opened and closed.
With the materials provided, installation was simple, and there was even a spare clip on hand in case the first one was broken. To keep people out of the bathroom while it was being cleaned in a warehouse, this was used to block it off.
This product is of inferior quality. The belt's end clip is made of cheap plastic that easily breaks, leaving the belt without a way to attach it to the way. Two of them were purchased. Both of them are no longer functional. BUYING IS A MISTAKE.
It's an excellent solution. As long as people are aware that it is present and do not lean over and walk through it. It's also a popular place for small children to pass through. However, you won't be able to avoid that one.
