Questions & Answers

For supplemental fueling, I keep a methanol tank in my car. Is it possible to extinguish a methanol fire with this?

The Tundra is marketed as a household/kitchen fire extinguisher that works on grease, fabric, and electrical fires and can be used in the kitchen, garage, fireplace, workshop, and any room with candles. Methanol burns invisibly and with a blue flame that is difficult to see in bright sunlight, based on my experience with it around sprint cars. If a methanol fire is contained, water can be used to extinguish it (if not, the water will spread the fire as it extinguishes it). When methanol was spilled on a dirt racetrack, the only way to deal with it was to burn it off. I contacted First Alert Brand Products, and they advise against using this product on a methanol-fueled fire because it is intended for use in the home.

If these were purchased today, when would they expire?

I bought a can a few years ago simply to have it on hand in case of an emergency, and I didn't care about the expiration date. I'm so happy I got it. During a recent wind storm, my special needs teen son decided to start a fire in a cheesy rusted metal and very shallow fire pit, which quickly became out of control. as well as being close to the house I was certain the house would catch fire, but then I remembered the canned fire extinguisher I had purchased and dashed out to get it. No joke, it worked like a charm! In a matter of seconds, it extinguished the raging fire! I just came here to pick up a few more cans to keep on hand. in case anything goes wrong It's a good thing it hadn't gone bad! The date of expiration is 04/23/22, according to my research.

Is this meant to be used once and then discarded?

"Use all contents," says the instruction on the can's side. After use, throw it away. Use only for small fires; do not attempt to fight large fires from 3 to 4 feet because they are too dangerous to fight safely. "We have two cans in our kitchen, a large extinguisher in our cellar, and one in our garage," says the homeowner. I ONLY RECOMMEND IT ONCE.

Yup
5/5

It works! Of course, you hope to never need something like this, but I knew we'd need one in our new condo just in case. I was completely correct. I was toasting taco shells in our big toaster when I took a break- The smoke billowed first, and then it quickly caught fire, indicating that it was on the greasy-side of things. Due to the oil on the shells, the fire side was chosen. They had a lot of LIT. My husband took the device in his hand, aimed it, and sprayed it for about 5 seconds. He came to a halt, and I yelled at him to continue- It caught a second time, and there was no way I could toss a blanket up there, and a real extinguisher would have made a huge mess. Cleaning up was a breeze! Do not put it off-- buy it. (It's worth noting that we followed someone's Amazon advice and drew a black Sharpie arrow on top to indicate the spray's direction. ) a fantastic thought There is no need to think!.

It's not going to work

Tundra or The Fireman could put out a fire faster, and I lost a $100 bet. Tundra not only took longer, but it also failed to extinguish the fire; shortly after it appeared to be extinguished, it flared up again, necessitating the use of The Fireman. Look at the video to see why I don't recommend this product. It has the appearance of hairspray rather than a fire extinguisher.

After midnight, start a fire! Last week at 1 a

m. , my microwave caught fire due to spontaneous combustion. When the screaming smoke alarm woke me up in the loft, I decided to investigate what had set it off. I staggered downstairs after seeing smoke roiling over the rail. Flames flickering inside the microwave door prompted me to grab the Tundra can from the counter next to the stove, open the door, and squirt the foam through the vent holes in the top of the microwave interior. THEN I thought to call 911 to come check the walls to make sure no fire had escaped the shell of the microwave, so I ripped the plastic grill off the front of the microwave, squirted the rest of the foam over the burning interior of the machine, and put out the last of the fire. THEN I thought to call 911 to come check the walls to make sure no fire had escaped the shell of the microwave, which it hadn't, and when the firemen arrived, they removed the micro, scanned "All Clear," he said, after searching for a laser. I exhaled a sigh of relief and attempted but failed to sleep the rest of the night.

For small fires, this is a great option
5/5

I purchased a can to store in the trunk of my car. For the past two years, I've been lugging it around there. My grill caught fire on July 4th because there was too much grease in the grease tray. I dashed to my car to retrieve the can, then dashed back. I was able to quickly extinguish the flames while still having some left over. br>Here's a video review from a guy who claims that this product doesn't work. Keep in mind the following: He didn't bother to read the instructions on the can. Spraying the fire from a distance of three feet is recommended. 4 feet. He had gotten a little closer. You must also sweep the spray across the fire's base. br>The acronym PASS is an easy one to remember. (P)ull the safety pin, (A)im at the fire's base, (S)queeze the trigger, and (S)weep across the fire's base.

Our kitchen was saved by a thin drizzly spray
4/5

This stuff came in handy today. I put a paper plate on the stove by accident and had to put it out with this. It's a thin, runny spray that kind of spurts, but it saved our kitchen. It is effective. Just in case, it's a good idea to have a few different brands/types on hand. I followed one reviewer's advice and drew an arrow on the top to indicate which way to spray. I'm glad I took the initiative. Place a few of these near the stove, away from the flames, so you can get them quickly in an emergency. It's as simple as that. I'm so grateful I had it.

It performs admirably and is simple to operate
5/5

I'd heard good things about these, and I'd had some for a long time but hadn't needed them. I had one that was about to expire (and one from another company that was about to expire), so I did some testing and examples with them, as seen in the video. Conclusion: The Tundra lasted the longest and was the most straightforward to clean up.

Excellent extinguisher for a backup
5/5

This is a fantastic little fire extinguisher! It's replacing our first Tundra extinguisher, which unquestionably saved our home during a kitchen fire; awesome knockdown, it put out an out-of-control stove fire faster than I've ever seen CO2 work! What clinched my decision to stay for the rest of my life. The unit had been in use for 5 years and had passed its expiration date!.

I bought this a year ago and finally had the opportunity to use it on a grease fire
5/5

I forgot about some oil in a pan. The pan was smoking when the smoke alarm went off. It caught fire as soon as I picked it up, but I didn't freak out. Because I'd never used this extinguisher before, it took a lot of effort to get it out. When it did, however, a thin stream extinguished the flames almost instantly. I was surprised at how little it took.
