How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

AIRWAY-CLEARING DEVICE: Removes fluid and foreign material that can obstruct the airway and make breathing difficult.
A respiratory mask aids in the removal of foreign objects, while a tongue depressor keeps the mouth cavity from collapsing and a backflow release valve prevents debris from re-entering. Children are capable of operating it.
EASY TO USE: The choke rescue medical device is simple to use thanks to the easy-to-follow instructions.
PORTABLE AND COMPACT: Small and lightweight, it can be carried in a backpack, glove compartment, or first-aid kit at home, school, or the office.
EVERY SECOND COUNTS: The DeCHOKER is a life-saving device that can be used to clear airways regardless of illness, disorder, or other medical issues. Our ambition is to establish ourselves as the gold standard for choking-related emergencies.

Questions & Answers

Is it normal for the tubes' ends to have cracks?

It was a few months ago that I purchased mine. Yes, there are indentations (cracks) on the surface. I'm not sure why they're there, but it could be related to how the tube was inserted. I tried calling them at the phone number listed on the directions, but it was disconnected. The indentations on all of the images are the same.

This device doesn't seem to be up to the task at hand
3/5

These devices were purchased in twos. When both devices arrived, the facemask seals were deflated. There was no mention of how to re-seal the seals anywhere in the instructions. They don't appear to be inflated, and it doesn't appear that they can. The only phone number associated with the devices resulted in a recorded message informing me that our conversation was being recorded, followed by a sales pitch for another device before hanging up. I'm a mechanical engineer with a lot of experience in manufacturing and construction. Based on my examination of the devices, I have my doubts that they will function as intended. The deflation of seals in brand-new devices still in their original packaging is an indication of the device's quality, and the lack of any means of communicating with the manufacturer is an indication of the manufacturer's lack of concern for customer service. I would not put my life or the lives of my children in the hands of these devices.

Points that are debatable
3/5

The Adult model does not fit me (I'm 6'2") because the upper edge only reaches the tip of my nose, resulting in no suction even after I squeezed it down and molded it to my face as best I could. A larger version, as well as instructions for measuring, should be available. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Under the heading "Dechoker Components" in the instructions, you'll find: A) An illustration with call-outs is required for clarity. out numbers correspond to those in the text (There is a lot of space to include such a graphic—the last 2010 of the Instructions consist of mere publicity photos. ) ) B) Most readers will have no idea what the term "Exhaust valve" means, so an illustration should help. C) I'm not sure what the "Enclosure" entry is referring to. It appears to be a duplicate of the "Suction Barrel" entry. " Once again, an illustration would be beneficial. D) A description of the fill-in work should be included. up-valve for the air-conditioning system The mask's rim was completely filled. E) Finally, there should be an entry that explains what the little tab is for. with- The front end of the suction tube has a hole on the side. " "br>br>5. "br>br> The mask parts should either be sold separately from the suction part or, as Lifevac does, two or three mask parts should be included with the suction part. (However, it's possible that the FDA prohibits this and mandates that the parts be glued together. ) )br>br>Instead of returning my item, I gave it to a short relative who is a good fit for it. I've ordered a Lifevac model in the hopes of getting a good fit. UPDATE: I can fit into the largest Lifevac mask, so DeChoker could easily purchase or make one for himself. (However, the Lifevac's suction power is inferior to that of the DeChoker. ).

However, it's fantastic
4/5

I was delighted to discover something similar on the market. My husband is away for weeks at a time for his job, so I'm a stay-at-home mom with two kids. So knowing I have this on hand takes one less worry off my plate. I'm hoping I'll never need it. My only criticism is that the packaging specifies "one-time use only," which I did not see in the product description.

Instructions on how to use the "signal
3/5

" After seeing so many "success" stories and "another one saved" posts on Facebook, I decided to order this device. I got mine today, and when I first opened the box, I was skeptical. Clearly, a lot of thought and money went into the outer packaging, but little to none went into the actual packaging of the product, which came in a cheap heat sealed wrapper with bubble wrap around it. It's common knowledge that items with misspelled words and obvious grammar errors should be avoided. It didn't take long to discover this in the instruction booklets strewn about the bottom of the box. I understand that a vacuum requires a good seal, but how can that be accomplished when the face seals on a "new" item arrive deflated? The face seal is equipped with a one-way valve. That makes me think you might be able to blow air into them. The issue is that this isn't mentioned in the instructions at all! In an emergency, I doubt anyone would think to come to a halt and blow air into the face seal. DECHOKER's mantra is "every second counts," and this is especially true when "every second counts. " The last issue I have with this device is that, according to the instructions, it is not reusable.

It's not going to work
3/5

The larger of the two facecups purchased does not fit because the tube protruding from the cup's center prevents the mask from fully contacting the face. I know I don't have an overly large face because I wear a large size respirator (which fits perfectly). To put it another way, the mask is too small to fit an adult male of average size. I attempted to contact the manufacturer two weeks ago but have yet to receive a response. I returned the masks, but I had to cover the cost of return shipping.

Just in case anything goes wrong
5/5

I'm glad I haven't had to use it yet, but having it on hand makes me feel better. My 7-year-old daughter has an esophageal problem and has already been heimliched several times. I'm glad I have this gadget around until she grows out of it. I purchased a two-pack (one for kids and one for adults).

Patients with Parkinson's disease will benefit from this
5/5

I'm relieved to have something I can use on my own. Choking is a problem for Parkinson's patients, as I discovered when I showed it to my doctor. He couldn't believe his eyes.

The Adult Mask Is Too Small
3/5

I was ecstatic to learn that the mask has a safety mechanism; however, when my wife and I tried it on, we noticed that it was too small, as the part cups mid-face. nose. We were unable to perform a thorough test suction. Is it necessary to bring the cup closer to the bridge of the nose? It would fit perfectly if the mask were just a smidgeon larger. In an emergency, I want to know that I can rely on the product; I apologize for having to return it.
