It's plenty sturdy and installation was simple. The connector is approximately 4" long, and a shelf bracket cannot be installed where the connector is located. It's not a major issue. Unless you have a specific location in mind for a shelf! I understand they do this to fit more product in a smaller carton and save money, and I respect that, but you'd think they'd design a connector that didn't cover the bracket slots. I'd buy it again because it's still a great kit at a great price, but Closetmaid, if you're reading this,.

Because the Pantry Shelf Kit's components are mismatched, it can't be properly installed! The three vertical standards should engage on the horizontal hang track's rail and rest flush against the wall. The rail, however, extends a half-inch in this kit. The vertical standard has a 5/16-inch indent, whereas the horizontal standard has a 5/16-inch indent. 1 inch in depth It's impossible for the shelves to be flush with the wall! The hang track could not be removed because it was screwed into three studs. I tried, but only succeeded in stripping a screw head (cheap screws? The only way to make this work was to file an additional 3/16th of an inch by hand, very carefully. into three standards' indents It was a lengthy and exhausting procedure. The integrity and load bearing capacity of the shelving were both compromised as a result of this, but it was the only option. In conclusion, ClosetMaid's product is a sham, with no customer service.

  This shelf fit perfectly in my 3x5 ft closet, was simple to put together (many YouTube tutorials), and holds a lot of stuff (once you hit a stud or two). Because the vertical tracks are not fixed, they can be slid left and right during installation to align with studs. I got them all on studs, but it was a lot more than I needed. It is less expensive than purchasing individual pieces. Needed equipment: drill and a bolt cutter/hacksaw level. This is something that can be done by anyone with a basic understanding of DIY. The top rail was slightly off because it was machined incorrectly at the factory, but that was Closet Maid's fault; otherwise, everything fit together perfectly, and buying the set rather than individual pieces saved me money, even if I didn't use them all. It's about the same price in the store at Home Depot, but it's even better when it's delivered right to your door. ***16 inch*** shelving is what you're looking at. I wanted a 12", but the 16" was less expensive than the 12" I could find on Amazon, and I'm glad I went with it. I put it in a small closet and skipped the bottom rail pieces, which "attach" to the 4' rails with a bracket. To make the shelves fit, I used a bolt cutter to reduce their width by a few inches. The job will not be completed with a small side cutter for nails. A hacksaw would suffice, but a Sawz-It would be preferable. I'm guessing they'd all jump around too much, nicking the white plastic covering. For the shelves' edges, there are small rubber side covers/bumpers. This is my FOURTH closet in which I've used Closet Maid products. My home's previous owner did a homeowners special, and there's a 30" gap (outside vertical rail) in the closet with no stud. In order to properly secure the third vertical rail for the weight that I have on it, I had to use the top horizontal rail. Although the drywall anchors would most likely suffice, I prefer the added security. The top horizontal rail supports the majority of the weight, and I simply secured the vertical rail with mollys in the drywall. The horizontal bar is only needed to line up the vertical rails (could easily be done with a 4' level) and add extra vertical support if the studs are built correctly, 16" on center, and it's a basic build. I will be purchasing another Closet Maid kit for my hallway closet. I'll get to that project once I've finished this one.

For an elderly lady, this is quite impressive! My drill with 1/2" bit, a level (the longer the better), a screwdriver bit for that drill, and a pencil were the only tools required! br>br>Getting the parts out of the box was the most difficult part of the project!.

This is an excellent product that is simple to set up. Wife requested pantry shelves in the closet, which were built solid and sturdy. My command is to ask and she will receive. A happy wife means a happy life.

It's a lot more versatile that way, and all of the "kits" do it with the uprights only " partially" on the wall. (Leave the top and bottom open. ) In my "minimalist" condo, I never know what I'll do with a closet. The previous "guy" who built a new closet- I was unwavering in my convictions. It's best if he does things his way. well- I simply repurposed an upright from a different kit. I'm still looking for inspiration on how to "hide" the wire with facings. br>EASY TO SET UP AND CUSTOMIZE! (Elfa refers to them as Facia).
