I bought it to help support an engine while doing some repair work, which is probably not the intended use case. Unlike many hydraulic floor jacks, I don't have to worry about a screw jack gradually lowering over time. Unfortunately for me, the head pivots, and with an asymmetrical load like an automobile engine, this means the jack can be subjected to small sideways forces that tilt the head, causing the jack's base to tilt, and eventually shifting the load. I was terrified that it would all collapse. A small steel shim appears to be the best way to lock the head and prevent it from pivoting, but no such shim is provided, and I don't see one as an option either. Thankfully, I was using it as a backup jack, with an engine bar and chain hanging from the top. The idea of the engine collapsing due to the pivoting head gives me the creeps. A simple steel shim would have greatly increased the product's usefulness and trustworthiness in supporting loads for my application.
With this jack, you'll be in for a workout! Heavy (weight), so expect to sweat a little if you use it under floors or in tight spaces. It's well-made and simple to use (I tried it), but it's limited by tight spaces and the user's weight. br>Failed to account for the sheer brute force required to lift approx. Between ten and fifteen tons To turn the threaded head, you'll need a very strong bar. HYDRAULIC IS NOT THE KEY WORD!.
I have no idea how much a 25x25 garage weighs, but the other three jacks were anything but simple. I wasn't sure about the swivel top when I first saw it, but it didn't bother me.
Perfect.
