This is what I used to raise a house. A 20- to 40-ton jack was suggested by online guides. I wanted overkill for added protection, as robbing houses is a risky business. For a few months, it worked perfectly, but then the gaskets began to leak. It has lost its grip. Under pressure, it takes between 20 and an hour to sink. This is a bad situation. It's only legal to jack 1/2" per day, and it's no longer legal to jack for longer periods of time. It's possible that this was caused by an error in usage. Dirt got all over the oiled-up cylinder while I was in a crawl space. I have yet to attempt to repair it. I'm not sure how much can be done because the housing is all welded together.
We never got a chance to try it out because it arrived drenched in its own oil, which had seeped into both the box it came in and the box it was shipped in. Shame, because it appeared to be the ideal jack for us, but the question remains as to why it leaked in the first place.
This jack has already proven to be reliable. It wasn't quite as stubby as I had hoped, but it fit under the axles of my Jeep Cherokee. I work on everything from cars to semis, and this jack should be capable of handling the majority of my lifting tasks.
After three days of use, it leaks and settles. It's far too risky to use a jack that settles, so I squandered my money.
To begin with, they arrived in shattered packaging - Two of the boxes contained oil. The locking key does not hold under pressure no matter how tight you have it - and getting them back into the jack's body is nearly impossible - I'm having trouble lifting two of the four. My 8-ton and 10-ton bottle jacks produce better results. I'm going to return these for the money. They simply do not satisfy me.
I jacked up the front tire on my 3/4-ton pickup truck and drove it into town for a tire change. Lack had been awake for more than two hours. I believe it will hold up well and that I will be satisfied with it.
In New Orleans, where the ground sinks, I used it to level my shed! It's a good-looking compact jack with a long reach!.
