There is no doubt that this is more durable than the swivel spindle that came with my high-end computer It was seven years ago that we installed a brass doorknob on the exterior. I was able to break my original swivel spindle because the pin that held the two halves together had worn An actual female and male thread is attached to this swivel. You turn the handle so that there is a portion of a turn screwed in and unscrewed out In comparison to the original, the new design appears to be much more durable. Although the photo gives the impression that there is a taper on the outside edges, this is not the case. Basically, these are just threads cut into the shaft so that should you need to use a threaded knob, you could use that. This spindle is fitted with an allen screw that set the knob in place very well.
The universal holes on this don't quite fit my door, but the product is great. I just have it slightly loose since it's for my attic door. The two inward holds are too close together, so I moved the screw to the other hole and it makes them too far apart. You won't notice it at all when you are not touching the handle, and it works as well as it ever has.
Most of the others are too small, but this one fits right in with It is a good idea to have removable fittings.

It seems sturdy. The spindle was assumed to be available in different lengths, apart from that, it could be used universally. That's not the case. Rather than buying one 3/8" thick, I should have purchased one. There is no such thing as 9/32". There is no way I can deduct stars for my own negligence.
The spindle I purchased replaced my broken one perfectly. The hacksaw may have to be used to shorten it as needed.
When I arrived, I felt solid. I snapped the treads before I even managed to get the swindle into the house. The one time I tried it, it was a lemon. I regret not taking that chance twice.
Nevertheless, this one gets the job done! The swivel spindle is an annoyance. My wishes for not having to deal with this are not fulfilled. It is true, though. I can't ask for more than just a swivel spindle it's in exact condition and is just what I needed!.
