The rope I have used for my application is 1/4" to 1/2" diameter. There is no reason why the same size cable wouldn't work. The pulley appears to be quite robust. It would be interesting to know how much weight you are trying to lift if you need a larger cable. The cable and pulley weight capacity needs to be checked if you're trying to lift hundreds of pounds or more.

It works great and at a reasonable price. Looks great and is a good deal for its price. I purchased this pulley for my gym, I have since purchased other brand items to improve other accessories. You should refer to the measurements/dimensions page when ordering to ensure the right size. Here's an update I purchased this pulley on January 19, 2020, to replace one I had broken. A pulley attached to my Total Gym allows me to do leg exercises. I realized after just a few minutes that this pulley was not going to work as I had envisioned it. There is no real roller bearing on this pulley instead, it has a bushing pressed into the center of the wheel. When you aren't directly pressing down on it, it seems as though the whole thing is floating. In addition, if it was not tilted or used horizontally, it might work fine. However, if I were trying to use it as I was, the pulley would bind up inside As it tries to spin out the center pin, this device is making loud noises. I had not intended to happen this way. Several people have seen online that they are using the Campbell brand equivalent pulley for the same purpose as I am. If it were different, I would be curious how it would impact customer relations. From the dimensions and photos, they appear to be the same. However, it may work differently than a pulley from a national brand manufacturer.
Those had a lot of fine threads and easy to use. These were exactly what I needed for building a weighted pulley set.
With this pulley, I was able to build an inexpensive home gym thanks to Yankee ingenuity. Because the resistance tube used in this machine has a large diameter, there was no pinching, and the cotter pin design enabled easy removal and replacement of the tube. The swivel allows band to move in all directions so that it does not bind in any position when training.
Of all the pulleys I have used, this is by far the strongest, quietest, and most effective. Despite the fact that I highly recommend it for my purpose, I would have no hesitation in recommending it for any other work within its.

My guess is that I will not be replacing this anytime RG6 and RG11 aerials can be run through trees efficiently with the help of this on telephone poles. Cables of both types can be used with this.
