In the standard SS cable, it fits snugly. It's doubtful that it would fit around the extra vinyl coating.
Selected User Reviews For Sutemribor 1/8 Inch Aluminum Crimping Loop Sleeve for Wire Rope and Cable, 50 Pieces
The ones in the orange package are from Home Depot, and they have thicker walls than the Sutemribor brand, but they both fit 1/8 inch cable. With the Sutemribor brand, the crimp pliers bottom out before putting much crimp on the sleeve when set to the proper 1/8 inch cable setting, resulting in very little holding power. Amazon should specify which crimper to use and the strength of the resulting loop. When crimping the thick wall sleeves, two of us working together couldn't get the crimper to bottom out. Prior to the sleeve giving way, the cable is supposed to break.
I used these with an iwiss crimper, but they might work with another brand. The sleeves barely compressed around the cable at the recommended hole number of 4 for 1/8 cable. Because the walls aren't thick enough for that brand of crimper to push the metal into the cable, closing the crimper with the number 4 hole required almost no force. I ended up using level 3, but the excess material pushed out the sides as a result. I added extra sleeves to each connection and compressed with the number 3 hole (but not completely), in the hopes of forming a strong connection. If you have an iwiss tool, stay away from these sleeves. Other reviews, I believe, have mentioned the thinness of the walls in comparison to other Home Depot sleeves.
Purchase a size that is larger than the actual measurement. I ordered them based on the cable's exact dimensions, but they are too small. It wasn't worth it to return for a different size, so I just added to my inventory.
I've crimped a lot of 1/8 steel cables with sleeves. They're all the same size, so they'll work with any crimping tool. Because these little guys are made of much thinner aluminum, the outer diameter of the sleeve you're buying is roughly the same as a standard sleeve AFTER it has been crimped. These sleeves are not something I would recommend.
When used in conjunction with a crimper, it makes finishing a loop or connecting two cables a breeze.
I've crimped hundreds of these and they've all come out perfectly. They're either 1/32 too big or something (I have the 1/8' version). Waiting for these was a huge waste of time, and now the object is completely useless.
I didn't have any problems with them, and I thought the price was very reasonable.
Everything went according to plan.
