They appeared to be aiming for a one-inch i. Mine were not smooth on the inside, and the largest round piece that would fit without cleaning and smoothing the inside is 7/8 inch.

However, the end result was less than ideal. I'm confident they'd serve their purpose admirably. As part of my restoration work, I occasionally use lifting eyes. Despite being less expensive than others, these had a much rougher surface finish than others I've used in the past, with a better appearance and proper function. I sent them back due to the finish on the outside. I needed form over function, which isn't how lifting eyes should be used. However, for my industrial restorations, I've used very nice smooth stainless that looks like it's been polished.
It's nicely threaded on. These are fantastic. My shade sail was tethered to my pergola using this technique. I already had bolts in the corners, so these were a great way to add functionality without having to add any more. Because they aren't stainless steel, I'm interested to see how they hold up to the elements. I live in coastal California, where the weather is mild, so I expect them to last indefinitely.
It was an excellent solution.
It was only some project hardware, but it worked perfectly.
The quality and finish are excellent.
