as well as other tools for woodworking However, these were the most important aspects of my relocation. I rented some machinery to move some cast iron behemoths, but it was a complete disaster. I came across these, and here's the deal: The size of the wheels is crucial. These have nice large wheels as well. To cut a long story short, they're each rated at 600 pounds. I am 60 years old and 5 feet 0 inches tall, and I moved these large items by myself. without any assistance from anyone Using four of these dollies is a good idea. Also, it's incredibly adaptable! I've used them to clean everything from dirty flower pots to woodworking tools. a piece of furniture You name it, and it's there. The wheels are of the highest quality. notch. There are many plies in the plywood, which makes it very strong, and there is a non-slip surface. surface that is not slick I put them through hell with those heavy items, and they handled it admirably. This book comes highly recommended.
The finish isn't quite as nice as it appears in the picture. The grippy part is chewed up around the edges and the soft pads are lifting up as received. The plywood edge is unfinished and has a few rough spots. I sent photos to the manufacturer, who admitted that the quality was not up to par, but that the only option was to return it, which seemed like too much trouble. With the exception of the pads, which I'll simply remove, it works perfectly for moving my heavy plants around.
After about 30 minutes of use, I decided to clean the wheels so that I could use it on new tile floors without leaving any black marks. To my surprise, the mount bolt for the first wheel I started wiping down was about to come loose: That's how sloppy it was. The other wheels had loose mount bolts as well, so I double-checked them. I didn't have an allen wrench that could handle the strange angle required to tighten the bolts, so I used small groove joint pliers to do it. br>br>The manufacturer shouldbr>1) do some serious quality control on how this cart is assembledbr>2) use a drop of blue loctite on each boltbr>br>If it weren't for the above issue, I would have given it more stars, but the above is a pretty serious issue for most people. br>br>.
These were really messed up when they arrived. I ordered two, and the box explicitly stated that they were allowed to slam into each other. All the edges have a lot of wood chips on them. They serve their purpose, but no one enjoys receiving a "new" item that is damaged, even if it is only cosmetically. I'm going to sand down the chipped areas and cover the items with fabric. The wheels are fantastic. br>br> Smooth and tall, allowing for easy maneuverability even on carpet. I used them to move apartments by myself, and they supported my IKEA furniture and boxes with ease. br>br>I'd love them a lot more if they weren't so fragile around the edges and had arrived in better condition.
I needed to move a 1200 pound upright piano down a 20-degree slanting drive. 80-pound items were loaded into a moving truck. The total length is 90 feet. I bought two of these, one for each end of the piano, just inside the steel casters, because the rating is for 800 pounds. This move had been in the works for over a month. I bought Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps, Ratchet Tie Down Straps, extra 2x's for bracing, etc. , etc. , in the hopes of anticipating all of the problems I'd have with this piano. br>I never used the Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps or the extra 2x bracing. These wheels were strong enough to roll down the hill, over the gutter in the driveway, across the rough asphalt road, and onto the moving truck's ramp. two 5'9 200 lb beer-cans into place in the back of the truck with the effort of two 5'9 200 lb beer-cans into place in the back of the truck with the effort of two 5' For me, the investment in belly'd guys was well worth it.
), and I have a lot of heavy boxes and bins to bring in and out every day. With the 360 swivel, these move SO smoothly in all directions (you can simply kick it in the direction you need and it glides right over, even over bumpy garage floor surfaces with some cracks). In addition, shipping is always much faster than the estimate indicates. I am extremely pleased and enthusiastically recommend this product!.
If it weren't so expensive, I'd give it five stars. It's a well-designed, heavy-duty board with four large skateboard-style wheels. If you need something to move heavy objects around on smooth hard floors or low pile carpet in an office or commercial setting, this unit is a great choice. I liked the first one so much that I bought a second to keep my back from hurting while moving stacks of heavy cartons and boxes around a storage area. This dolly also comes in a smaller round version, which I have. I have no complaints; I am very pleased with the product and it is exactly what I was looking for. With an open center and larger wheels that are prone to rolling over entry plates, sidewalk seams, and rough asphalt, I don't consider this a general movers dolly; for long-term storage, I believe you are better off with a solid surface to support your items and the wheels move easily on a smooth concrete floor.
Because I like them so much, I bought three of them. When there isn't a lot of weight on the dolly (about 95 pounds), the narrow wheels do leave indentations in our painted cedar deck. It leaves no marks on my dolly, which has more traditional flatter casters. This is a bit of a letdown, but I really like these carts and plan to use them only in my concrete basement and garage.
