Those parts will be used to secure tire chains in snow and mud. It is hard to find a better binder than these. This review was among several that I found to be negative. The problem seems to be that they do not know how to use the product they are complaining about. It is my hope that the video will be useful to others in understanding how they should be used. A cast iron lever cam and hardened steel hooks appear to make up the main lever cam. For binders used to bind tire chains, I recommend wiring the lever closed (this would apply to any brand), but in the case of static loads no other safety precautions should be required.
The tightener is of good quality. The following has been noted by others As far as I know, mine was delivered upside down. Because the binder will not hold its position when it is locked, it is easy to determine the problem. As soon as you identify the problem, it is fairly easy to reverse. You can flip the handle by feeding the hook between the legs of the other hook in order to flip it from one side to the other. When viewed from the current position Before or after rotating the handle, the hook needs to be threaded through.
The chains I use to secure my tractor's forks were loose, so I bought these to tighten them. It is the first time I have used an older tightener instead of the larger old type I was using before. My need for them is much easier and they work perfectly for what I am looking to accomplish. The product looks good.
The binder looks great and works well. For the price, it's decent quality, and it works well for tightening my tractor tire chains. I use it for tightening tractor tire chains, and it's not the best size for the job, but it works fine nonetheless.
Our purpose was to put our chains on our atv used for plow snow with the help of this. This product also works well as a tractor chain lubricant. The utility tractor we use this winter has been using them as well.
You thought they were backwards, but they are not defective. There is a YouTube video showing how they can be pulled through one another and they work as supposed to.
I was very pleased with this. Before discovering this brand, we tried several others and were about to give up. Chains need to be attached to tires with this tool.
Keeping things locked up was a good idea.
