Questions & Answers

Does this agar have a good colonization rate?

Because I haven't tried any other types of agar, I can't make a comparison. With this mix, however, I was able to get a large number of colonies from a mouthswab.

Is there a way to use an InstaPot instead of an autoclave?

Hello- The instant pot would need to be able to reach 15 PSI in order to work; if it can, it will.

What is the nutritional agar's composition? (ie. Yeast extract, salts, and peptone are some of the ingredients in tryptone. ?

Hello- Beef Extract, Agar, and Gelatin Digest (Pep G).

I don't have an autoclave; can you use a microwave instead? How do you figure out how long to cook it in the microwave? Also, how long does it keep after being mixed in a sealed container? Thanks! ?

We completely bypassed the autoclave process, and it's already starting to set up nicely and working well with bacteria cultures. It's as simple as boiling it and pouring it.

My classroom was in desperate need of something like this
3/5

It was very simple to use this product. Bacteria thrived on the surface. Ensure that your Petri dishes are completely sterile. Bacterial growth was visible on the dish edges in my control. For school-level cultures, it is a very simple medium to use.

Agar is excellent
5/5

Agar is ideal for small scale experiments. When it comes to mixing, there's a lot of room for error. As a quick and effective teaching aid, this is unquestionably useful.

not agar

This isn't agar, so don't get your hopes up. br> The gelatin and beef bullion are displeased. br>It's a pity that a company called seaweed claims to sell seaweed products but instead sells bone meal.

Product must be autoclaved; do not purchase unless you have access to an autoclave machine; instructions state that the agar must be autoclaved

I bought this for my daughter's science fair project, but she won't be able to use it.

Bulk agar is a type of agar that can be used to make You'll never use all of this agar
5/5

Used in a science experiment with children. Everything went smoothly. To dissolve, simply combine with the appropriate amount of water and warm. For 99% of kids science experiments, an autoclave is not required. Purchasing this rather than pre-ordering it is more cost-effective. Agar can be purchased in pre-packaged quantities or in smaller quantities.

We ordered this for a science project, and while it boiled down quite a bit, we still had enough to fill 40 Petri dishes
