Yes, in a controlled environment for tissue culture. Otherwise, I wouldn't put it in an aquarium; it'll be a disaster.
It's a powder, about 41 grams, and the packaging says it needs to be refrigerated. I wish I'd known sooner because the shipping envelope sat in an uncontrolled climate part of the warehouse for over a week before I opened it.
Refrige.
Without a doubt. It's agar (kelp) with some vitamins and minerals and, I'm guessing, a little sugar, but it's not food grade. br>It has a soupy smell to it.

I was fortunate enough to have purchased two packs. The fact that it was available on Amazon was appealing to me. I didn't care for the fact that it had to be brought to a boil to solidify. Apart from that, my plants rooted in 3 weeks with no problems; I believe most people will try to autoclave it, but there isn't enough agar in it to do so. I'm going to buy it once more.
Because the product was not kept at the right temperature, it was rendered useless.
The mixture did not gel and remained a liquid. Was completely dissolved after 15 minutes in the autoclave, and the pH was perfect. br>br>Perhaps, as the previous comment suggests, it was not saved correctly. br>br>If I tried it again, I'd use 500mL instead of 1L as suggested on the data sheet.
