Until we made batches with nutrients, we had no growth on the agar. By breaking the 15g into smaller lots and adding nutrients by weight, we were able to add more nutrients overall. The 15g package calls for 1 Tablespoon beef or chicken bullion and 1 Tablespoon sugar. Many people don't have a scale for this, so my best guess for it would be 1 Tablespoon beef bullion plus 1 Tablespoon sugar. You can replace the agar with plain Knox gelatin if all else fails. But gelatin does not remain stable at room temperature, and especially not in an incubator (it melts into a goo after a few minutes). For the Knox gelatin experiment, you will have to store it in the refrigerator. It is likely that some bacteria will grow even in such a low temperature environment.
Good afternoon, everyone. The best way to obtain nutrient agar is to purchase it. It is possible to find recipes for making nutrient agar out of beef stock online, do a search and you will find them, but I cannot guarantee the efficacy of this method.
The first packet has been in my possession for nearly a year and a half without a single issue. If I were to put desiccant packets in there, I would rather put a box of baking soda in front of it. The only reason I say this is that you can potentially compromise the integrity of the product even by sticking your hands in there.
That's what I'm looking for, this is good for salt bridges.

The project can be used as a homeschool project. I completed it as part of an elementary homeschool project about I didn't have any problem mixing the agar or getting it to set up. The next time I need it, I will buy it again!.
It was decided to discard dispatch due to some other problems, so I can't really comment on growth culture. Although it did set up and looked like it would work, I had my doubts.
Astounded by the state of the brown bag that contained the agar powder when I opened Amazon's package, I wished I had opened it. There had been an accidental spill of agar powder on the Amazon Since the agar powder had spilled on the package, I felt it was unsafe to use, and the amount in the original package was so small I couldn't use it for the recipe I was trying. It was a disappointment.
Preparation of petri dishes for swabs is made easy with this product. We purchased this refill and have done fun experiments at home with it. The one I bought last time will definitely be bought again.
We came to the conclusion we should use nutrient agar after 5 days of no growth. 7 cups boiling water was added with 1 t beef bouillon and 1 t sugar. This amount is half a bag (5 g). We hope that it now grows stuff.
In the end, we found that this agar won't grow much of anything if we don't add There were three experiments with a total of 30 petri dishes, and yet there was no growth. When we contacted our child's teacher, she told us we probably only bought the gelatin (agar). Within a few days, we grew fantastic colonies on all 20 petri dishes using the remaining powder, seasoned with some bullion and sugar. As used in this recipe, the agar is actually quite good. Gelatine did not dissolve in the incubator as it would have in a regular oven. In the end, I measured out five portions of 3 grams, mixed them with 200ml of distilled water, and then discarded the residue. Ten 80-mm film can be filled up with this Petri dishes are 100mm in diameter and about 1cm in diameter. The following is the recipe for five Put it in a pot and bring it to a boil otherwise, it might not It is possible to dissolve the entire 15 gram package of agar in 1 liter of water, and I recommend storing the unused portion in the refrigerator. As soon as the agar is heated, it becomes liquid again.
It has a very durable inoculation surface Unlike other gels, it is not easily torn.
