Color or Weight to Keep Your Stuff Dry? Every summer, I dehydrate and store vegetables to use throughout the year
4/5

Moldy figs, plums, squash, tomatoes, and other fruits and vegetables have always been a major source of concern for me. as well as the loss of my go-to organic vegetable supplier br>These provide an extra layer of assurance that I won't misplace a jar or two of vegetables. br>br>On the plus side, the manufacturer claims that these are "rechargeable," which is supported by some other reviews. The disadvantage is that I have no way of knowing whether or not the beads in the packet are saturated. br>The manufacturer claims that the beads change color, but the beads are hidden by the paper packet! br>According to the instructions, the packet weighs two grams and contains only the beads. br>When I first got them, I weighed 15 of the packets, and the beads plus packets ranged from 2 to 2. 6 to 2. 7 gr. each. br>br>It appears to me that the only way to determine if they're saturated is to weigh each one separately. br>I hope you found this information to be useful.

I was able to save my iPod! My iPod went for a swim in a raging river
5/5

in the back pocket of my husband's shirt It wouldn't turn on when I gently took it out of his pocket on our way to the hospital because he had broken a rib. No, it was drenched, and all of my photos were ruined. We were out of town, so the next day (because hubby was at the ER all night), I bought rice and put my iPod in it for two days while we carefully packed up and drove home, and I waited for my silica gel to arrive. I wasn't taking any chances, so when it arrived, I placed the iPod in a small tupperware container and surrounded it with silica gel, sealing it in the container for another week. On the eighth day, I carefully removed it from the container, which was surrounded by silica gel packets, and plugged it in. It was charged and ready to use! Woo hoo! iPod has been saved. My husband will be better in only 6 weeks: )br>br>PS- If you are looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innovative The silica packets can be baked on low for a few minutes and then dried again to save another iPod for another day!.

These were purchased to aid in the drying of my powder
5/5

Everyone has seen the small packets with the words "Do Not Eat" printed on them at some point in their lives. The purpose of these packets, which are about the size of a sugar packet and are included in plastic bags or boxes that house delicate electronic gear and the like, is to absorb moisture from the air surrounding the packaged device and improve its survivability while awaiting sale and transport. These packets are called "desiccant packets" and contain silica gel in the form of tiny, clear beads. Many people regard them as a one-time use item that should be discarded once they've been removed from the shipping packaging. Even after absorbing moisture, the silica gel beads in the packets can be'recharged' by soaking in a low-heat solution and then reused. But who keeps them, and what else could the packets be used for? I have a use for them, multiplied, and I never saved my *free* desiccant packs! I'm currently working on a process that involves coating metal parts with a special pigmented powder rather than traditional liquid paint, and the nature of this powder necessitates that it stay very dry. Because the powder paint is packaged dry, it flows extremely well when applied. When a container of powder is opened, atmospheric moisture is waiting to seep in and cause clumping. My goal in purchasing these silica gel packs was to put one or two in each powder container to maintain the 'factory fresh' flowing quality required for smooth and consistent application of this unique material. The use of the packets is generally preventative rather than remedial, but I do have one case where I might be able to see a desiccant pack (X2) at work. One of the 'economy' powder coatings is clumpy, which I assume is due to too much moisture. After receiving my desiccant shipment, I placed two 2gm packets in that container right away. If the powder container is tightly sealed, I expect the flow and consistency of the powder to improve. It's my expectation that using these desiccant packets will help.

They've vacuum-sealed dehydrated vegetables and fruits to keep them perfectly dry
5/5

packets that are sealed! For the winter, I dehydrate a lot of my garden vegetables. Cooking takes time. I also put a lot of pressure on myself. can take up a lot of space, but dehydrating takes up a tenth of the space and is much lighter without the water content. The bane of anyone who dehydrates, on the other hand, is the risk of mold and moisture. Despite the fact that I vacuum seal, I use a dessicant as a precaution. So far this winter, everything I've opened and used has been completely dry! Given the time and effort required to dehydrate, I believe the small cost of adding these packets makes a lot of sense (and cents).

It's great for common gel packet soap powders and has a lot more uses than just food
5/5

2g food-grade silica packets, 2x2 squares br>It's a material that's used to line bags. Containers of gel pac dishwasher soap and laundry soap no longer stick together, and the contents of the soap are powders. Sugar, brown sugar, spices, salt, and peppercorns absorb moisture and prevent caking. br>Put in sugar, brown sugar, spices, salt, and peppercorns. There will be no more rice bits mixed with salt. other, instead of just a small hole shaker top with a silica packet that falls out, you can now pour. br>br>I'm a first-time user, and I'm loving how easy it is to order small quantities. Salt, pepper, and spice shakers (5g packets) grinders.
