Water is considered safe to drink if the color stays purple 48 hours after testing. I am a PRO This test involves mixing your water with an agar solution to see if your water is contaminated with bacteria. For two days, until about a week after infection, small bubbles are all you can see as bacteria. Counting the bacteria colonies provides me with the data I need to determine the level of contamination. Before counting bubbles, the test recommends a delay of at least 2 to 3 days. A water that contains less than 6 bubbles is considered to be safe for drinking. An additional charge will apply if you want a more detailed analysis of the bacteria. For this, you can seal the dish and send it to a lab.
The following It is dangerous to have Coliforms or E in the air. There is a description of E. coli bacteria in the description. In my opinion, it should read either E or Coliform. This bacteria is one of the most common bacteria in the world. Since the instructions simply state that as long as you have less than 5 colonies, it's probably safe, but if you have more, you should either filter or get an optional $30 lab test (plus overnight delivery). It seems to me that sending it in is the only way to determine which type of bacteria you have (coliform or E coli) In other words, that statement is extremely misleading. You'll have to be patient.
For those of you expecting a 'professional' service, we apologize. It's my fault. You can see that you've got stuff just by looking at it. In my studies of this subject in college I learned that there are harmful coliforms, and benign coliforms. Again, this message is important It is only by sending it in that you can find out The language is vague again, which may lead to confusion Please note that* There is the option of lab analysis to identify the exact count and type of bacteria. Are they bacteria of a certain type? As the lab I used ended up saying there were too many types of coliforms, I suspect it's going to let me know if it's E coli or any of the hundreds of other types It didn't matter to me if it was true or not. My business won't be with a company that can't be straight up with me. If all you want to know is if anything is in the water, just go ahead and take the test It's up to you. This is what it does.
Should you still have questions regarding your petri dish, you have the option of sending it to a lab for further analysis. It costs approximately $40 to have the lab work completed. We have a local Extension service, and it charges us $46. 01 (not sure if they test for mineral content as well but I forgot to inquire) I have 12 wells and we test them on a yearly basis.
As I was doing the bacteria test of my tap water, I wasn't paying attention to how excited I was to receive these two products from Amazon. You can see that there was a small crack in the petri dish! My next attempt was to open the second petri dish, and I found two huge cracks in both halves. It is useless to buy a culture test kit if they are cracked, since the culture needs 48 hours to rest in the petri dish before it can be tested. Besides the $15+ I paid at my local Ace Hardware, I also bought a kit from Amazon. Spending $8 on rubbish is far better than shopping for useless stuff.
My goal was to run some comparative tests on three of these water testing kits which I ordered from multiple sources around my house. There were two kits with cracked petri dishes out of three received. The outer packaging (Amazon) did not show any signs of damage, so I can assume they were damaged before shipping. An agar gel began leaking before it had a chance to properly This product is not a good choice for me.
coli contamination has been published. In the event that nothing grew in the dish, I had the same water source tested. E- was found to be a positive result in the second test.
There is a lot of junk that needs to be sent in to get real results. The petri dish snapped easily with little effort.
