Cloning and making defined media agar plates were some of the duties I performed with this product. During the transfer, there was no visible contamination of the algae between the two. There is only one negative feature of the top its design. The arm opens all of the way and touches the benchtop. When opened, it seems as if the tips are exposed. These tips are good enough to use in molecular biology work.
