These rubber cones are used by myself and many others, including professionals, who work on our or others' camera lenses and need to remove lens rings to gain access to the various lenses within a complete lens. br>br>Before you use these tool sets, I recommend watching some lens restorers online to learn how to use them properly and what to avoid when attempting lens repairs on your own. br>br>To use, simply align one side of a cone with the lens's retaining ring and apply even, downward pressure to create a powerful twisting action, by- way- To loosen and unscrew the ring, simply apply friction. br>br>Use the cone to re-install the ring. re-tighten the lens ring to its original tension, securing the restored lens in place. br>br>With use, you may discover, as I did, that the included cones do not easily fit a lens dimension as needed. Purchase of a second set, in a different color, for the sole purpose of reducing cones to the 'correct' fit of lenses that are a little too tight to properly use the prime set of cones. Simply lay out a sheet of fine sand paper and abraid away the excess material using a figure '8' action until the size is as needed. REMOVE ALL GRIT from the sand paper before each and every 'test fitting,' to ensure that NO Embedded Grit is carried over to the lens, no matter how 'quick' a try is made.
It might be helpful to you if you have difficulty wearing down the cone evenly due to cone distortion, to pack the cone about% br>br>Throughout history, skilled workers have frequently taken tools prepared by others into their shops and resharpened, reformed, or otherwise improved the tool's action before using it. br>br>With a little care, you, too, will be able to personalize these tools to suit your needs at work, which is always a good feeling. br>br>IMO.
Cheap. In cold weather, you won't be able to perform as well. They stiffen and become extremely slick. I understand why rubber becomes stiff, but as soon as they warm up even slightly, they become significantly larger and much more difficult to push into the flask. I gave it four stars because I haven't purchased the green ones or any others yet, and rubber stoppers are an absolute must for a filter funnel. They are effective. They're a real annoyance.
a good product at a reasonable price.
For any Buchner filtration setup, these adapters are a must-have. There are several sizes available, and I can confirm that one of them fits the Bomex 500 and 1000mL filtration flasks.
They're good for what they're good for. To get rid of all the rubber scraps, I had to scrub pretty hard.
With an average price, it's a good deal.
The off- Due to light handling with bare hands, white/cream colored adapters may appear dirty. This isn't meant to be a complaint; rather, it's a heads-up for anyone reading.
Product of high quality.
