There is a taper to it. It has a top diameter of 15/16" and a diameter at the base of 5/8".

Instead of the hexagonal stopper pictured, I received a penny head stopper. Since either of these will work well for my application, I am quite happy with the one I received, as it fits very well.

The package was poorly packaged

I was sent a box wrapped in a single sheet of very thin foam (just a few millimeters thick), which was crushed when it arrived and I had to discard it.
