There is no way I can tell what the handle's exact diameter is, but I know for sure it is not 1 and 5/8". The diameter is between 3/4 and 1 inch, if I had to guess.

This is considerably better than the original, which was made of metal and rendered useless by being run over by "she who must obey her. ". You might want to run it over again, this one will hopefully.

The number 1 is not valid According to the advertisement, 5/8" is needed. Seven and eight eighths of an inch. The good thing is the products are made in the USA or else I would return them. Despite being impressed, I was not blown away.
