I think this is the ideal The solution is very simple and neat

The wall behind the toilet was old and in need of being smoothed, so I had to intentionally cut the extension and then gouge the edges with a utility to meet the wall. Once in place, the piece is not immediately visible, and provides solidity to the tank.
