I'm not sure what the i stands for. and o. end of the spectrum? thanks?

I'm not sure because mine are currently in use. These, on the other hand, will fit an Intex pool hose and screw onto a standard 1-inch screw. Fitting for 1/2 pipe I hope this information is useful.

What does the small end's od stand for? I'm attempting to convert a single digit number into a two digit number. 1/2 inch of intex hose to one inch of intex hose 1/2 pvc. ?

The OD of the slip end, according to the manufacturer, is 1. 79". This appears unlikely, given that the threaded end's stated ID is 1. 25" is clearly too big, and the slip end is much smaller. It's possible they were talking about a different product, so please clarify.

Is this a tough pvc material?

Yes, it's ridged and made of pvc. On the Intex pools hose, it works perfectly to convert standard thread to hose.

Do the hose cuffs fit vacuum hoses for carpet cleaning?

The cuff is designed to fit one person. You should be able to use them on a vacuum hose if the hose is 1/4 inch. You'd have to get rid of the old cuff. The cuff would then be secured by a screw. To secure it to the hose, I would recommend turning it on.

Looking closely at the photo, it appears that the hose screws into a flange inside the cuff to cover the hose's outside cut edges, but the inside cuff flange shown in the photo does not exist in the item sent. I hope that was clear. It's a difficult concept to grasp.
