It can be used for a variety of purposes. A perfect measurement was taken by the seller and the item exactly matched the description. My car actually came with a set of coilovers that included two of these to cover the adjustment screws on the dampers. In the trunk, the rear damper adjustment knobs protrude over the carpet, and I didn't want things in the trunk to bump them and change the level of firmness accidentally. I have found these to be perfect. hold the knobs in place tightly and make sure they don't spin. I was able to receive my order quickly.
