A tankless water heater has been installed. The water pressure in my house was 95 psi. The water main near my property has been tampered with by the City of Phoenix. Several times during the week, I turned on and off the main. My old-fashioned tank heater had burst. I bought a hose bib-attached water pressure gauge. The water pressure was 95 psi, which surprised me. Limit the pressure to 45psi, according to the instructions that came with the tankless heater I bought. My neighbor paid $600, as far as I know. A plumber will cost you $00 to install a regulator. This was something I purchased and completed in a matter of minutes. I also installed a new high-quality hose bib because I had everything cut. I would strongly suggest it. DIY project that is simple and straightforward.
The whole thing leaked out like a sieve. This is a terrible design. They tacked on a point of failure that wasn't required. The nut that is supposed to go over the termination point is leaking profusely. The washer simply pushes its way through the wide opening. There's no need for a failure point. I replaced it with one that was only one piece, rather than three. It functions admirably.
It's a reasonably priced product that's also very simple to install. I put up a two-foot fence. Because PEX tubing is flexible and makes installation easier, I used it on both sides of this regulator. As a result, I had to purchase two more Sharkbite couplings at a cost of $9 each, plus $5 for the PEX, but the installation was a breeze. I cut 4- I cut 1/2 foot of copper tubing from my line just after the city water meter and slid this baby in. It took me ten minutes to complete the task. And, given that this regulator already includes two Sharkbite fittings, I believe the price is unbeatable. I increased the pressure to maximum, and we now have 70 PSI instead of the previously dangerously high 105 PSI. Great product that most likely saved us from a future flood.
When the water is running, however, it makes a lot of noise. I tried reducing the water pressure to see if that would eliminate any harmonics that were causing the hum/squeal noise, but it didn't. (I know you can't completely eliminate water sounds; you just shouldn't hear them all over the house!).
It's simple to set up, but it causes a lot of hammering when the washing machine is running.
It had no effect on lowering pressure at any adjusted rate. Your system is at risk. The manufacturer, Cash Acme, refused to assist and advised me to return it, which I did. This is not one I would recommend.
It's fantastic! There are no issues.
A squeaky valve has been bothering me. For 48 hours, this valve was silent, then the noise returned, but at a lower volume and with a higher pitch. I increased the pressure to 65 psi, which was the factory setting. There are no problems now because it is very quiet. It was extremely simple to set up.
