It had to be modified to work since all the lines came out of the bottom and the original one came out of the side. To make it work, I had to bend the gas line. As well as the 90 deg brass adapter, I had to buy. I did not have any problems, but you will need a big pipe wrench to get the old one out. My heater works perfectly, and I saved about $830 by doing this myself instead of buying a new one. I appreciate it!.
I like that this is a direct It was easy to follow the instructions. Depending on how much gas is incoming from your incoming gas line, you may have to modify it. If you bend the copper tubing, you should be careful it will crimp. You should use yellow thread sealant for the threads. (Please note The valve appears to be easily unscrewed in some online videos. In my case, I did not face this issue. When I tried to budge the old unit with an 18" pipe wrench, it refused to move. We heated the pipe to loosen the valve, then we used a torch to loosen it. 5) In the days following installation, it will take some time for the gas to purge the valve and refill the lines. Don't worry, it will work in the end.
I have taken a star off because it was a different brand than the picture showed and did not look like the picture. It made me really hesitant to purchase it, but I ended up doing so and I love it. As well, if you're replacing your old one, you'll probably want a pipe wrench to get the job done. There were lots of other ways to remove the old one, such as torching it and dipping it in penetrating oil, but a pipe wrench was easy to use, allowing the installation to proceed. It's a big wrench for pipes.
However, I have installed it and it seems to be working well, plenty of hot water and good recovery time.
Upon installation, it worked as if it came from a factory.
Make sure you select it correctly. It arrived in perfect condition and was a perfect fit for the application.
Installation is easy, and the water gets heated quickly.
