Yeah, I think so. It does not matter which direction you screw them into, so long as they are solidly embedded. Nevertheless, these are 'C' hooks, so they work great for hanging purses or other things with straps, but they are not the best for hanging
A hole can easily be drilled and then these can be twisted into place. If you want to drill a hook, my suggestion would be to use a bit that is no bigger than 1/2 the diameter of the screw end. It is always better to go smaller than you think you need. Put a twist in place for the initial hole and see if it works. To screw the hook end into place, you can use pliers to grip the hook end.

The screws in these were easy to install and I was able to do it on my own in just What should I have done to ensure the hole was safe? The answer is perhaps. These screws were literally able to be screwed in without the use of any tools. Since the screw tip is extremely sharp (which is why I did not bother drilling a pilot hole), and since the hook is coated, it looks aesthetically pleasing These macrame plant hangers were so easy and fast to use (macrame hangers and most pots pictured on Amazon), that I will need to order more packages to hang the rest! I'm so glad that these weren't another "one day".
If you were to screw into a stud behind drywall, you won't get a good bite unless you are screwing directly into the beam. The hook was perfect for my application, and I liked the coating, but the short thread area made them useless.
The goal of getting them is to install them in my ceilings so I can hang a backdrop from them. Sadly, they didn't reach deep enough to penetrate the drywall, so they didn't provide any use. In addition to the ceiling, you may want to use the hooks for something else besides hanging things from the ceiling. It seems sturdy, but unfortunately I wasn't able to use them to hang.

In order to free up counter space in my kitchen, I bought these to hang a fruit basket. Despite not needing any tools to install this hook, I was pleased to report that I did not need to use any The screwed into the ceiling without difficulty and there was no risk of it falling. To help organize my laundry room items, I used these screws to install them at the bottom of a shelf to hang mops and similar items from. I found that the large hooks worked with most of the holes at the end of the pole for hanging, and the ones that didn't I put an S hook on the cup hook and it worked. pleased with the outcome. It's possible that we could have just stuck them wherever in the ceiling we wanted and they would still have been stable I really like these. I'd hook again ten times out of ten.
