For hanging wreaths, we use these hooks. If your coffee mug has a stronger/larger screw, you might need to change it. There is a hole in the handle for this.

It did just what I needed. A nice rubber coating for the mug hook. The lip is large enough to prevent the mug from slipping off the hook. The hook is large enough to hold mugs securely.
