This tool has a lot of bad reviews about splitting rivets. These reviews made me hesitant to buy it, but I did. Below are some results I found after some experimenting
If you just smash the rivet with a hammer after putting it in the press, it will fall out from the press If so, then you will be able to separate the mess. Rather than pounding the metal home, you should use gentle taps in order to SHAPE it, and then you can pound it home once you've stretched it to the RIGHT shape. The system works great, and I can split rivets or keep them whole - whenever I want. Such a large amount of control is provided.
Anvils and punches can be removed easily for reaching eyelets farther from the edge of the workbench. To make axe sheaths, this was crucial. In order to keep the eyelets from splitting, I had to learn how to gently hit them. As the punch is short and wide enough for my arbor press to easily handle, I can easily use it. As soon as I used the arbor press, it was too easy to split the eyelets, so I switched back to malleting the eyelets with a brass mallet. This is a product that I would purchase.
It works well, but I don't see what it's worth. A few bucks at most seems like a fair price for something like this.
I bought an arbor press from harbor freight to use with it. It worked well. It always curls the edge and looks almost the same on both the front and the back.
It would help if you had an arbor press for this. It is not necessary to have one. A few light hammer strikes are enough.
I love working for them. Product quality is top notch. Since becoming a regular buyer, I have purchased a lot of items.
It's very easy to use, well worth the price.
It works seamlessly.
