It appears to be the case. It's possible that one will need to be placed in each piece and tied together.
My best guess is that it's about 3 inches long.
I'm not sure how well these would work. On the vinyl car cover on which I installed them, they simply snap together and unclip.

My carport's canvas cover would always pool water, no matter how tightly I tied or bungeed it. I decided to punch a few holes in the low areas of the cover and install these because I was tired of having to pull the cover to drain the water (and thus getting soaked). They Perform Amazingly! br>br> There is no more pooling water, and the water drains far enough away from the vehicle to keep it dry. br>br>Although this isn't 'technically' the product's intended use, it performs admirably and I would recommend it for this purpose.
My yard is open and windy all of the time! The solar cover was never able to stay put. I have a pool that is 21 feet in diameter. I strung eight grommets around the perimeter and two in the center. I'm amazed the cover hasn't shifted in these winds! Thank you a lot! I'm so happy I found these!.

down points to a tarp of ten mils. The grommets worked perfectly even when the tarp was folded so that the grommet passed through three layers of the tarp. Without using any tools, I could even snap them together with my hands. For this project, I also bought some Coghlan's grommets, but the CargoLoc grommets are much better. Not only do you get more grommets per package for roughly the same price, but the Coghlan's grommets gave me a lot of trouble because they couldn't handle multiple layers of tarp. (While adding grommets, I cut a large tarp in half and hemmed the cut side. ) ) The CargoLoc grommets performed admirably, were simple to install, and were inexpensive. Is there anything else you could want?.
Until I discovered this, there was no way to change the size and shape of the pool cover. So far, this has been the best option. Remember to cut a hole large enough for a full snap when cutting holes in each piece.
So far, I've used these twice, along with some garden spikes, to keep a waterproof blanket on the grass in place. The blanket stayed in place on both days because of the wind. Some people complained that waterproof/resistant blankets were slick because the waterproof side and the soft fleece side were not sewn together. I didn't have any of those problems with these. Even on a windy day, these clips have so far maintained a strong grip. I have not used these with a tarp or in a storm with extremely high winds, so I cannot comment on their effectiveness in those situations, but I did inspect the grip when tightening the blanket's screw and it appears to be quite good, so they should work well in a rainstorm. If you have a good tarp, you should be fine.
The package stated that there would be 28 sets. I used 45 sets after opening two packages. The ones that were left can be seen in the photo. They didn't have enough caps for two sets and were missing four full sets. br>Also, the cutter tool isn't compatible with cotton curtain fabric. No cuts were made. As a result, I had to cut the holes by hand.
They're all a millimeter or two too short.
