The other version I purchased is identical to this one. They're both from the same Chinese supplier, and they're both awful. This was exactly what I needed for my project: a very specific size drag chain. The issue is that it fails miserably at what it is supposed to do. When fully extended, the chain does not lay flat, putting constant strain on the anchor and each link. Furthermore, the male anchor is misshapen to the point where it barely fits through the link opening. This thing is garbage because of the spacing and the stress that the curvature of a fully opened chain places on the link; it won't stay connected to the anchor side. This is not a good place to spend your money.
For CNC, this is a fantastic drag chain. I have a X-ray of my X-ray of my X- I needed a longer drag chain for a Carve that I heavily modified. This matched the drag chain I bought with the X-Plane when I first got it. To make it the new length, carve it perfectly. In comparison to what I paid for my original length drag chain, I thought the price was very reasonable. The cable locks are tight and don't pop open while in use. I have a few more projects in mind that will necessitate the use of a drag chain, so I'll be purchasing another of these. It works perfectly with (4x) 4 conductor shielded wires running through it, as well as (2x) 1/4" tubes for the water cooled spindle.
When I placed two of the 18x37mm units on a flat surface, they both bowed. If it doesn't sit flat, the joints will be under constant tension, resulting in link failure and subsequent binding while moving. I figured I could order something less expensive than an industrial quality chain like Igus, but I guess you get what you pay for in this case. If you're going to use a CNC, don't waste your time. Take a look around.
These are fantastic, but keep in mind that they don't lay flat. They will bowed up as they go if laid out straight, perhaps 1/2 to 1" at the other end.
For the MPCNC, I previously used a drag chain that was not openable. Unfortunately, I had trouble pulling some of the cables in and out, and I had to solder the AC extension cord to make it fit through the other drag chain's ends. br>br>This drag chain opens easily and has proven to be very reliable in my experience. If I needed to build another machine, I would buy it again.
This is plastic trash, and it does not lay flat, as others have stated. br>It would have been nice if you could have given me 1- 2 mm off, but the thing is 10 to 20 mm off; I didn't bother measuring because the gap was so wide. br>I'm returning it to you.
