The Campbell sash chain has been used by me to restore 200 year old old double hung windows for the past 20 years. It is my preference to replace the old worn out broken ropes with chain after reglazing and refinishing the I have never seen any rust on any of the chains I have used over the last My response is in the hope that it

The only disappointing aspect was the actual color of the copper which is not as vibrant as a penny, but far more rosy in appearance. As a first attempt I installed the copper plating in a small out of the way window, but I may try patinating it before placing it The following update has been made My expectation was for this chain to slowly develop a brown old penny patina as it aged. Initially I installed it on a closet window that I was not too concerned about the appearance of, with the goal of adding a patina to the windows in the living room later. It didn't work. I purchased an aging solution to dip the chain in before installation in order to turn it brown. It looked like something was wrong with my solution, so I put a new penny in there, and it turned blue/black in a few minutes with no change in the copper So, I decide to soak a bit of chain in acetone as I thought they may have put a coating or oil on it that I couldn't remove with my standard cleaning. However, the acetone bath turned pink as soon as I did this! To give it a color, whatever was applied was simply washed off. The acetone bath and one more try after giving it the benefit of the doubt did not produce Disappointed to say the least.
About 20 years ago, I bought the exact same #8 chain you see here, but it's not even close to cooper. This is pretty much just a color of shiny stainless steel. Comparing the old stuff and the new stuff can be seen in my photo. To the left of the younger one is the older one. The boxes each came in had the same label when I purchased My first thought was that the box said copper so I'm not blaming the retailer, but rather the manufacturer.
** NOT CORN COLOR**. Even the smallest hint of color is absent from A stainless steel metal color appears to be 100% accurate. An order for a copper tone chain has been placed. To match the existing hardware, I expect a copper tone chain.
Due to its coppery finish, this chain is attractive to me. It is significantly better than the cotton sash cord that Besides the sashes, they should last a long time. Surely, if the painters would stop painting the chain when they paint the windows, it would be great!.
There's not much I can The chain is a standard sash chain for hanging old drapes and drapery A window sash with a particular style. Although it's made of a soft metal that can be easily cut with wire cutters, it's more than strong enough for the job that it does. I like how it adds a little something to the window that has a brass look. There is a wide variety of sash rope available, but it is not good quality, and it Chain is the way to go.
There is a copper-tone finish It's more orange than pink (maybe just a tiny bit). Many of the inserts to stick in the sash window (they look like curls) fit perfectly where my windows used to have a hole for the knot to fit through.
Double hung windows in older homes are easy to restore to full functionality with this product. There seems to no longer be a market for brass chain.
